How long did Ace take once you sent off the letter stating how much your charges added up to?

I got the charge list today and they owe approx £300 (not incl interest). Did you get the full amount or just the diff from the £12 OFT 'suggestion'???

Any help V much appreciated xx;)

Have recently sent a letter off to Next Directory, got a very snotty reply.

We got anything higher than £12,which was ok as there were only a couple below that.

reading this thread shows how much we love our catalogues - im absolutely addicted and have 14 in on the go at the moment - how stupid am i? studio is about £800 balance but over the years i have had about that much in charges im sure - im going to get my statements back and see and get them to pay it off the balance - its time to grow up and stop using the catalogues me thinks.....

also - does anyone know if brighthouse would refund charges? they charge £5 for late payment....when you only pay £13 and are only a day late that is very steep....

Yes they do have to comply. Depending on what your letter was:

You can request information on your account under the Data Protection Act 1988. They must comply as it applies to anyone who holds information on you regardless of their nature of business.

If their charges are disproportionate to their actual costs they constitute a penalty and this is unlawful in consumer law and can be reclaimed in court.

    Insist, and good luck :)

I sent a letter to a company on 05.03.07 with a cheque enclosed and they have sent me a form back from JD Williams & Co asking me to fill in an attached questionaire and telling me i must supply proof of identity, and asking for a further £10 to be sent. I would really appreciate your help.
