I say two or three decent and recent photos that show your face clearly. Some I've seen you can't even tell if the person is black, white or green they are so murky.
I've met 3 people from dating sites and they all looked exactly as their photos. Perhaps I have just been lucky. Well, one of them had just black and white photos that made him look amazing, but it was him, and before we met he sent me other photos which were more day to day photos. But the original ones did really catch my eye just as they were meant to.
As to murky photos, if it is POF you can report these easily for not being a clear shot. I have done this in the past. Not Rachmaninov

for some reason the blokes seem to think that them wearing a bright red afro wig or dressed as a hula girl is going to make us girls think what a fun guy he must be when really we are thinking '!!!!!!'0 -

You're only asking that 'cos you want to print it off and put above your fireplace so it will scare the kids from getting to close to the fire.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I've got a couple of photos in mind - one when I was on holiday this year, I'm looking relaxed and happy but not particularly glam, the other one is a silly one taken in a booth at a wedding I went to recently which I quite like. Was just wondering really what goes down well as a profile pic - male perspective particularly appreciated!
I'm not a bloke, but me and the bf met on a dating site last year and his profile picture was of him (quite clearly) at a theme park with his little niece and nephew and I thought that they all looked really cute ;-) I think mine was me either about to dive into a Christmas pudding or in my Christmas cracker party hat! All of my photos had talking points in them to start conversations and my bf's picture meant that I could talk about theme parks and families with him.
We have talked about profile pictures since because he said that he used to have a photo of him dressed up as Woody from Toy Story and one of his friends told him to take it down because he wouldn't attract any women! I told him it wouldn't have put me off because it showed he was a fun person who likes fancy dress, just like me!
Generally I think that if you can have a photo with something a bit out of the ordinary to catch people's attention then that really makes a difference when you're scrolling through a sea of faces. I also made sure I chose a photo where I thought I looked pretty much like I normally do (ie. not overly dressed up because I don't look that good all the time) so I wasn't creating any false impressions!0
