Someone has recommended meetme.com to me, have any of you tried it?0

I am thinking of dipping my toe into the match.com water...
I am not ready for a full on relationship but I am definitely ready for some fun, companionship and nice evenings out. Not up for one nighters though!
I think I will do Match rather than Plenty of F**** as my ex is on there.....
I have had a look and there are a large number of selections you can make when joining, of which many are optional. I am not sure how much stuff to put in. Obviously I need to describe my appearance but there is an option to put in my weight which seems a step too far (although I have nothing to hide!)
Likewise is it a good idea to give job information?
I have no idea what to write for a profile statement but I think this is optional.
I assume my chances are better with a photo?
I would appreciate any help with this.0 -
Photo - Far higher message rate with pictures. Avoid the top down. angled shots as anyone who is social media aware knows the posed photo look to hide body shape etc. Many are wary of anyone without a photo having something to hide.
Statement - Outline your interests, unless you want a million "hi", "how are you?", "would you like to see some pictures of my dingle dangle?" type messages*. Give the guys a chance to actually make contact asking something that interests you, rather than trying to think up something from nothing.
Job Info - Most just give the title of their job. Doubt many folk really care about that.
*You'll probably get this anyway.0 -
Ladies, ladies!
I am guilty of serial dating using the internet! Its the easiest way to meet people. Personally I think that you're much better off meeting blokes through friends/family but sometimes you meet a decent bloke online.
I use POF. Its completely free but as noted there are a lot of creeps/perverts after one thing. Seems to depend on age of guys you'll be looking at, older ones seem to be a tad more chilled in their approach.
If you do decide to use POF, i would advise using a "screening" process. The idea of this is to get rid of the guys that just want sex. Once that's done you can sift through the complete utter losers (generally given away by job status, living status and driving status) and hopefully find someone decent. Admittedly i've only met three out of god knows how many blokes that i'd consider dateable guys but I am extremely fussy when it comes to men.
My screening process is simple... on my profile it clearly says "If you are using this site for casual sex, please refrain from messaging me as I do not want your STDs or ASBO children." Also i tend to back off from the blokes with half naked pictures, whilst they are nice to look at chances are that guy isn't looking for more than sex. Be wary of guys wanting "fun" too, it seems to be code for it.

Meet me is just another dating site, probably no better or no worse. I'm sure the same people are on more than one night so you may as well stick with the free ones.
Are you sure the recommended it to you didn't mean Meet Up which is more of a social site.

I would say don't try OkCupid - its not that great, but hopefully it will pay off - though I have been on there for a good couple of years and had just a few messages back from people
I tried POF and just got lost in a sea of pervs0 -
after reading some of the issues people have with relationships I really wonder if its worth it. after all no one is completely compatible and emotions are unpredictable and misleading. So my point is that there is no point in searching for a partner if you are just afraid of being aolne and find someone you fancy and at least there is a pretty face to wake up too.0

Well I stayed away from all the websites after having a relationship for a couple of months and only just started using them again. I have my profile set on PoF to private so really I can only message the people I want to speak to.
After a few days started talking to a lovely person, really long e-mails over the course of a few days, at one point even exceeding the amount of characters allowed on PoF's message system. We then exchanged phone numbers, have text a little and said we may go on a date in a couple of weeks. Yet I don't feel right about it? It's little things like in texts (we text maybe four times a day, not excessive) using the word u instead of you and the word hun which I hate! So I'm not quite sure if I even like them. Just sort of going along with it, seemed a lot more promising in emails compared to texts, or maybe I set my standards too high!0 -
Possibly proper keyboard on a PC versus smartphone. I also hate text speak, but I know some folk that do inject some text talk into their messages when using a phone.
Sounds like a weak reason to go off someone prior to meeting if things initially sounded promising.0 -
The guy I chat to uses impeccable grammar and spelling in his emails. However, he is on pay as you go and pays for each text which is his reason for using text speak. I don't think anyone has told him that if he only sends a text of one sentence (which is usual) that he doesn't need to use text speak - oh bless. Not Rachmaninov
