  • Happy result from Match.com. Previous two long-term I met on there too. One was normal but slightly boring, next one lasted 5 years. This one is a keeper two years in!

You just need to watch out for the signs-

what do they discuss in the first email. OH and I discussed tv books politics life personal histories etc then started to flirt later on. If they start off with something "interesting" beware.....

meet as soon as you can as that's the only why to tell if you have some chemistry.

look for someone with a full detailed profile and honest looking photos
OH had 24 on there which is a large amount but they were honest and real and he was detailed about his life

Don't be put off online dating! You can meet good/bad people in all walks of life. Its just an extra tool you can use to meet someone apart from evening classes, dancing, socialising etc.

There Goes Trouble I'm in exactly the same position and am fed up with people saying "it always happens when you least expect it" andof all the people who are so judgmental about internet dating... as if we are the last of the social lepers to have to stoop so low to try it. Stop being so smug because you never know when you might find yourself by your self again through no fault of your own. Why should we be ashamed to try internet dating? Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Just like sometimes volunteering or joining a sports club works and sometimes it doesn't.

    sorry - rant over.

I'm seriously thinking of signing up.
I spend a lot of time at work & I don't have the energy & inclination to join lots of different clubs - also can be daunting alone.
I'm nearing my late 40s & I certainly don't want a man of nearly 50s who frequents night clubs.

I am thinking about signing up to Match or Zoosk so if anyone has any recent experiences, I'd appreciate it.
