Frogletina, think of it as a lucky escape. Better to find out before you have met him than have a daftie who has met you and knows more about you.
Keep searching as there are some good ones out there. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -

So, where to start? I'm 47 and a widower, two things I never expected to say in the same sentence but there you go.
Ok, I'm old fashioned, I have manners and am not afraid to use them. I hold doors open and give up my seat to complete strangers. I wouldn't hesitate to give you my jacket if the weather turned while we were out.
Ex-smoker [many years now]. Over weight [due to giving up] but now working on it. Approx 5'9" -- Blond/salt & pepper hair, apparently quite thin on top (glad part of me is) but without several mirrors and some contortionist type moves, I can't see but then to be honest, I don't care.
I'm quite well domesticated, I cook, [ not just beans on toast, but it's no fun for one ], I clean [ well, in a male kinda way. You know, round rooms - I should live in a lighthouse and it doesn't need dusting unless I can write my name in 3D characters) ], wash [ ok, so the machine does it but give me credit for knowing how to use it ] & iron [ now that is all my own work and no, I don't have 10 creases in each shirt sleeve ]
)
Two [step]Children, although I don't normally use the word 'step', all grown up and in their own places. A young Grandson that has been with me 6 days a week since he was 6 weeks old when mum went back to work. Don't panic! He goes home most days and is now in school full time but he is a big part of my life. I also have a Grand-daughter, somewhat older she is at that pre-teen point in her life when all family are embarrassing.
I love music and always have the radio or a CD on. An extremely eclectic taste covers Gilbert & Sullivan, Glenn Miller, Classical and just about everything from the 1950s through to the present day. Favourite artists include: Sarah Connor, Debelah Morgan, David Bowie, Melanie Thornton and Prince.
Despite my love of music I have absolutely no rhythm and can't dance for toffee. It would be nice to say I had two left feet but I'm not even that good)
I don't sit glued to the tele but do enjoy things like Dr Who / Torchwood / House / Have I Got News For You & QI. Boston Legal is an absolute must watch.
I enjoy country walks, the coast and the dramatic images created by a roaring sea. I even enjoy walking in the rain, the dog on the other hand, she tries to get home without coming out from under the bushes.
I consider myself kind, generous, caring, compassionate and loyal. A big heart but sadly not the wallet to match.
The odd kick about in the park with my Grandson and an occasional trip to Oulton Park to watch touring or club cars is the limit of my 'sporting' interest so there's no danger of you being a sports widow.
I love my computer and would be lost without it because of the wealth of information and knowledge it has made available. I don't play computer games nor do I own any games consoles.

Who am I looking for?
Top of the list I guess is to be 'chatty'. I need for you to be open and willing to share things about yourself. I don't understand why people email you to say 'hello' and then spend their time responding with one and two word answers. It's good to ask questions but if the whole of my email to you is asking questions it's not going to be a successful relationship.
As I'm old fashioned, I like ladies to be feminine, but I'd also like you to be happy traipsing through a muddy field with the dog. I'd want you to be happy with who you are rather than trying to look or be like everyone else.
I would rather you didn't look like Lydia the tattooed lady or a human pin cushion.
Most importantly is that I want you to be my best friend, that we are so comfortable together it's like we've known each other our whole lives.
It's not a problem if you have kids as I've pretty much raised 3 that aren't mine. I occasionally think that it might be nice to have 1 [or more] of my own but am quite certain it is now unlikely to happen.
Easy going and relaxed personality is very important. Being able to switch off from work at the end of the day would very much be a bonus.
It is absolutely essential that you have a sense of humour. Ask me 'does my bum look big in this' and my reply could well be 'babe, your bum would look big in a marquee') If you're not going to find comments like that even remotely funny or take them in the spirit they were meant then...................
An interest in current affairs would be nice, for us to be able to sit and chat about everything and nothing. To be able to 'put the world to rights' to have differing opinions and a mutual respect for those opinions.
An animal lover, particularly dogs. I know it might seem odd stating this considering I've made it clear I've got a dog but you'd be surprised. heh, maybe you wouldn't.
That's a good profile, i almost fancy you myself.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

They arent worth bothering with if they stand you up...........unless its a genuine excuse. Sorry to be so intrusive but have you got anyone at the moment who you are writing to? tell me to get lost if you want, I am broadshouldered.:o:D
I have been messaging someone since February who I have met up with twice. He really is a very lovely guy but I am unsure if he will ever ask me to be his girlfriend.
I don't want to date anyone until I can figure whether we might have a future together, hence I only agreed to meet the other guy as a friend for coffee. Not Rachmaninov

Well i read through a lot of the thread on here and have also posted with regards to a recent relationship i had. But ive also registered on a couple of dating sites and heres whats happened to me: Guy1) wasnt over his ex when we met but it was years since they split and he told me she works where i do, its a big place. And he wasnt really my type. Guy 2) Lied about his age he said he was 50 (IM 47) he was clearly around 57+. So he was out as far as im concerned i dont do lies. Guy3) Nice but a bit dim and lived with his parents. Guy4) Nice guy said hed meet me again and then didnt bother to txt to cancel the date he arranged, luckily i didnt get ready. So again no good. Guy5) Lovely in his pic we had a jokey txt banter, unfortunately when we met ommited to say he was a drinker and cocaine user and was locked up the night before we met as he got arrested. Guy 6) I never met this one as he said he lived in a room at work, in other words didnt have a place of his own. Guy 7) The guy thought that i was the one the. decided after 6 weeks i wasnt the one and basically ended it just like that. Said he got cold feet!! Guy 7) lovely he was but lived over 200 miles away so i didnt meet as in the real world it wouldnt work. Guy 8) said he was a carer, but actually lived with his mum and was unemployed). Guy 9) didnt bother meeting him make the mistake of taking his number and he was far too pushy, unemployed again. Guy 10) Was worse than guy 9 and said hed had 10 dates and all women were the same and wots wrong with US all.Said were a bunch of middleaged hasbeens and we want to look at ourselves as were all going to be left on the shelf as he was such a good catch!! Nerd. Needless to say i didnt even arrange to meet him. Im now onto Guy 11) were just messaging at the moment. So tell me please im quite petite (size8, etc) not that really should matter. Ive had over 200 guys look at my profile etc and made great comments. So whats going on here. Because none of them seem to fit what im looking for. Which is a normal down to earth guy with or without children etc you know the plan.....0

Blimey, you have had no luck have you?:eek:0 -
I've actually met 3 really nice guys on dating sites but each of them I've only seen twice.
I'm beginning to think that they met me a second time to confirm that they didn't want to see me again! I know that is paranoid thinking, and I still communicate with the first two from time to time. Not Rachmaninov

Lol, no i havnt. But im a single woman, own home, own car, employed, children left home. Solvent no debts, petite and have also been told i dont look my age (i look around early 40s). I get a lot of attention on the sites, i not saying i dont as I do get a lot of younger men interested. But what im looking for is a man in the same time frame of life as me. Surely they cant be that difficult to find. Or am i being too picky? I dont mind a man that has younger children etc who rents (im not that picky), im not worried about living on my own either, but all ive met but one are not suitable. Im thinking of giving up (this is after nearly 4months of these dating sites). Infact i could right a book about more experiences ive had via men wanting to MSM me andalso scammers and perverts just wanting sex, as well as married men toboot!!!0

Four months? I've been on for almost 3 years and only met 3 guys. I have to say though I have turned quite a few down, but then quite a few have wanted to meet me and then cancelled.
I too am solvent, petite, own home. I don't show any preferences where age is concerned but I would say that 90% of the contact I get is from younger men.Not Rachmaninov

tonight she's on a 1st date with someone she's messaged a few times, i'm so excited for her, she text me about an hour ago, as i told her to keep in touch, (well you do worry don't you)
she said
'he's very posh and nice, don't worry i'll be ok'
i'm real excited for her.0 -

I wont settle for less than what i want, a friend of mine did as she panicked about her situation (another story) and just dated a guy she hasnt got that spark with and is content to just plod along, but i do know what i want.... and i guess i may have to wait a few more years too..
