I never use MSN and tried to uninstall it.
I've never used a dating site but i've heard a lot of horror stories about them and one marriage so I guess they work for some.
Hope you have some luck soon as it's frustrating when talking to a person who doesn't try to engage with you. I like talkers!
Well come on then, what do you want to talk about?:D0 -
Not that I usually read it but I was at the dentists....
It wasn't amazingly indepthbut I was pleased to read that it isn't just me that gets the comments about something being wrong with you if you are single (rather than you are wrong for wanting to be single - you must be single due to a huge personality flaw).I get quite fed up with those sort of comments, or being left out of socail events because everyone else is coupled up & they think you may feel uncomfortable so don't invite you. Of course it is so much less uncomfortable to know you've been excluded, isn't it :rotfl:
It mentioned this book, & one thing that had never occured to me was how much more expensive it is to be single. Probably shouldn't admit to that on MSE
Also mentioned was this (but I'm not clear on whether this has come from the above book or just from the magazine) - "From the age of 35 there is, like for like, a 7 to 1 ratio of single women to single men". Where on earth have all the men gone  Any ideas? On the plus side, if it is true then you guys have no excuse....
Sleepy-head - thanks for your good news story, although my hope is slowly fading. Have been offered 2 further weeks free, & still chatting to a few very nice sounding men gazillions of miles away but not a whisper of anyone within 50 miles.& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

Well, now I'm depressed - 7 ladies out there for me and I can't find one!
Did you get out of the dentist with your smile intact?0 -
Thanks for the members of this site as i would never have heard of some of the free sites that seem very popular. I have been perusing some of these rites an one thing I have noticed is the pictures . They seem to go from ohh umm to ohhh to is that picture of the same person???0

I remember reading somewhere that men post pictures of themselves a few years ago and women post pictures of themselves a few stone ago. That totally rings true with some of the men I have met.If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -

I'd love to see the data to back that "fact" up. Unless there has been a growth in households of women with several husbands to reduce the numbers!
The data for online dating suggests the reverse of that, with a far higher ratio of male to female members on all sites.0 -

Treu, but love to know the data for how many of those men are genuinely single.0 -

True, but in truth the data is not a sign of how many single people there are of either gender. Just how many people sign-up to dating sites.
Going on population sizes in most countries the split between genders is pretty equal, give or take a percentage point or two, so unless you live in a country with a unusual spike towards one gender then the chances are the number of single people of each gender will roughly be equal.
I think both genders are likely to claim they have the harder time meeting people. I honestly think it's more likely that it's often just the case that single men and women often have very opposite interests in how they spend their free time when single, so most likely the chance of meeting is limited. Particularly if these things become routine to them. Then they start to wonder where all the single people of the other gender are!0 -
Am interested in joining a dating site but have no idea what to put in the profile bit wehre you have to write something about yourself, am hopeless at that sort of thing, any ideas?
