Well I have taken the plunge and joined POF in the last week. Upgraded the membership and put some pictures etc on there.

So far had a few messages, nobody who really float my boat, and I have sent messages to the guys I think look interesting but not really had a response from them really. Sadly!

One guy I did send a message to in response to his tag line has been in regular communication. Mind you he has not asked any questions about me at all, it is all very one sided, he replies and is chatty but not sure he realizes he is being like that! And he complained right at the beginning that he was fed up with it all as people seem to stop talking to him for no readon or do not turn up for dates. Hmm I wonder why!

Today I have received my first 2 very flirty messages from very good looking men but clearly interested in one thing! Put me off sadly!

I have browsed eharmony and match.com. Not read too much about them on this website (mind you how many pages! Perhaps MSE could start a thread with reviews for each one?) and not really sure if POF is the best for me. I am 44, do not want children, have grown up kids and not looking for a sex pest!

    Let's see how it goes.
Aim to win in 2013 - a holiday somewhere nice, New York break, treats for family & friends & some cash would be lovely!!!

Match isn't bad, but not brilliant in my opinion. Eharmony isn't cheap, but met a really great woman through there, had a date last Friday and meeting up again at some point next week. Got a date with a different woman through POF on Sunday.

Why on earth would you wait 90 days? Sex is fun, enjoy it and don't withhold because you think that a man will think any less of you. He won't, in, fact not having sex for this long may make him think about the long term potential and implications of a sexless relationship!
That would be his problem and not yours. Women that value themselves don't just jump into bed with anyone. There's plenty of time to explore that side of things when you are sure your personalities, values and aspirations match. 3 months of dating is quite soon to be sure of that.

E-harmony = the website that treats you like children. Guided communication - what a load of b*ll*x that is!

That's quite a generalisation. Values and aspirastions don't have to match to enjoy sex, it doesn't have to be a deep and meaningful action for everyone. Everyone has different timescales, I don't see how that being sooner rather than later implies a lack of self worth, you could fairly easily infer confidence from the same action.

Ask yourself, what's easier - having sex or abstinence? Anyone can have sex without engaging the brain first, there's nothing clever about it.

Surely you should be waiting until the the 4th or 5th year of marriage. Not just hopping into bed with an ol' guy after 3 months.

So women who have sex without first dating for 3 months not only have low self esteem but they're also not clever? It's a personal choice, people's preferences differ, it doesn't make someone less intelligent because they don't need to share dreams and aspirations with a partner before indulging themselves. Sex is certainly not always easier, it is generally a lot more fun though.

Well you ignored me on there so now you will never know, another with a huge shopping list or ego?

    The bloke's point of view:
You sent your message at 9.40pm last night, I was out with friends, but the email notification went through to my phone, I read your message but don't have the patience to write a reply using my phone. I came home, went to bed, got up, went to work, visited a friend in hospital, then met family down pub, got home tonight at 11:30pm where I am now looking through the usual emails/forums/etc.

No huge shopping list, definitely not an ego, just busy.

Lou-b Whooot way to go :happylovejoins in with a silly happy dance  (note to self should really consider doing less of these, particularly in public after tonight)

Barney, progress, good luck with whoooing those ladiesss, don't forget to keep us informed ;)

Chris :naughty: Tut tut....Badddd Chris, haven't you read the entire thread (neither have i :shhh:)? But i have read lots of people like to refresh pof every 5 mins to check for replies

ShAne 4th or 5th year of marriage? It was my understanding that there was NO sex in the 4th or 5th year fullstop. This is probably not the best thread to start a poll on the matter

 Is it just me or does anyone else think that guy in the white shirt on pof advert about wealthy men is SMOKING hot (90 days....think waiting 90 minutes would be impressive with him)!!!

A male friend of mine is meeting someone at the weekend but she won't send him a picture, they have chatted on the telephone isn't that odd? She says men say she is attractive and she wants a 'blind date' as she always gets judged on her looks. I've advised him it's a little too early to be getting into blindfolds and to go for an accidental grope in case she is actually a man, apparently he did not consider my comments on the matter constructive. Although in all fairness i have also totally offered to stakeout the train station and check her out prior to their meeting:rotfl:

    sleepless

Not at all but he asked where I was and I tried to show him but he didn't seem bothered or didn't realise it was me, I'd not date him as I've decided I don't want to date right now, but if he saw how many men complain of no luck then ignore people he would understand why women get !!!!ed off.

No reply is a reply but they do that then moan about their lack of replies.

Going to concentrate on the horses for the summer I think, although after yesterday I'm not sure I want to do that  would be nice to meet a horsey man. There are some nice ones about but they are rare.
