what are the best value dating sites?

I got really annoyed with GDFF – I kept getting messages off men in their 50’s and 60’s, I also had a marriage proposal from a little Chinese man, the messages from different US soldiers etc but the thing that really, really annoyed me is that the site sends men messages as if its been sent from you!
I only found out this when a guy who lives about 150 miles from me sent a ‘thanks but no thanks’ message and I’d replied to him asking what he was on about and he even forwarded me the message I had apparently sent! Turns out his membership was coming to an end and after googling about it, it seems the admin staff do this to encourage men to re-new their membership!! :eek: :eek:

I also kept putting in my profile that I was only looking for local men who were between 28 and 38 but after a few days this bit would mysteriously disappear…

I prefer oasis at the moment as you have to send a contact request to the person you want to ‘talk’ with – if you don’t like the look of them you don’t have to accept the request.

Anyone ever noticed anything on pof which tells you when it's somebody's birthday?

I know it displays your age but the actual date? Just wondering as i got a message from a guy today wishing me a happy birthday, it is my birthday (29) but i'm not sure how he knows that. I don't know him and my profile is actually hidden at the moment so shouldn't come up in searches/viewed me.

hi ive got a pof problem i either email some of the girls that are my matches and ive only had one reply back which was polite to say no any suggestions what im doing wrong? im looking at the profile and trying to be relevant but no progress x john

I think part of the problem is that PoF is a free site, so people are less committed to it. If you used a site that insisted on paid membership to communicate, you'd be on it a lot more often to get your money's worth, as is everyone else that's paid.

I personally don't rate PoF at all. I don't like Match either as a way of meeting like-minded individuals, but at least it has a huge membership so their's plenty of choice, and paid members seem to be pretty active. HTH.

POF is very superficial, all the men I talk to or view say the same thing they get no replies etc

You may think the girls are matches but the likely hood you're muscles or wallet aren't big enough.

Since everyone says the same thing on there I wonder if anyone actually meets :rotfl: it is becoming harder to chat to someone let alone meet someone to the point where I've seen profiles where men have decided to go back to the traditional way of dating.

I was very lucky and met my wonderful man on there, we are celebrating our first anniversary next month!

Sorry, just stumbled across this thread... I agree, I met my GF on POF just shy of two years ago, cant say i had any troubles on the site, although we both hada good laugh at some of the propositioning messages she recieved lol..
