My son is scared of EVERYTHING!

My 7year old has always been a little worrier, but now it has got to the extent where he wont even go upstairs or even in another room on his own.
A man Across the road told him off the other day (DS came home crying as man had said "you go over my grass again with that scooter and I will smash it up"-I was and still absolutely fuming that a man of 40/50 thought this was an appropriate thing to say to a shy 7 year old-I'd also been watching him out of the window and he hadn't even gone near his garden!)
For weeks he wouldn't go out to play and we found out yesterday it was due to being scared of that man and having to walk past his house.
I split with his dad 3 years ago and both if my children have lived with me, however ds1 stayed at his Dads as his dad decided he is now living there (and legally there's nothing I can do!!)
There's only 13months between them and they have always been very close.
Last night DS1 was crying for 2hours as he missed his brother and "was scared about him", I asked if he wanted me to ring his Dad and let him know and he said "No cos Dad will call me a homo or pansy for crying"!:mad:
He wet himself tonight-which he has never done since potty training and I think it's due to all this upheaval.
I'm at a loss at what I can do except constantly re-assure him that we (me and partner) are here for him always and love him very much and will always try our best to keep him safe.
He's in bed now, constantly shouting down for us to go up as he is scared,

I think you should be more concerned about your ex using inappropriate language to him than the guy across the road, what a horrible thing to say to a child.0

I am absolutely disgusted with it and have told ex, I am appauled that there is nothing I can do according to law to get my other son back as it can't be doing him any good mentally or otherwise living with ex,official dfw nerd club member no 214

It comes across as the elders in your son's life have made him introverted and scared because when he does express an emotion he gets shot down in flames, he probably feels invisible, picked on and does not want to speak up because of it0

Why is he scared for his brother? Do you have any reason to be worried about your oldest sons welfare? It seems an odd choice of words.0

Can't you go to court to get residency for your oldest?0

I was told by solicitor that ex will "play it out until we run out of money" and as ex is a vile selfish man who only cares about his own welfare I think he would.
I don't think ex would hurt them physically (sp?) but I am pretty sure he is damaging them emotionally and mentally!!, not sure I could prove it though.
It's they type of thing DS1 says when he is worried.official dfw nerd club member no 214

Awww poor little love, it must be hard for him (and you) not having his brother there. Is this a recent thing your other child going to live at his Dads and how did it happen? Did your son (I'm guessing he's the eldest) express an interest in living with Dad, or was it just decided one day when he didn't come home after a visit?
As for the neighbour, do you know anything of him at all? Is it possible someone has been messing up his grass and he'd just assummed it was your son's scooter. Could you go and talk to him?0 -

It is since his Dad was told he would have to start paying csa for him after only paying for one child and pretending he only worked 16hours and not the 40 he actually has been working, so his exact words were "I'm not paying so the bairn can live with me and you can pay me!"
He has also said that the £46 csa he pays me a month means I have to drop them at his and pick them up on the days he has them. (he doesn't drive but his new partner does)-which I usually do -but most men who really wanted to see there children would find a way, eg bus, taxi etc but if I can't take them/pick them up he wont have them!As for the neighbour, do you know anything of him at all? I don't, I only recently moved here, it was the 3 children that DS plays with, and he did tell them off too but they are quite bolshy!official dfw nerd club member no 214

You can do it without a solicitor. Then you won't run out of money.
I didn't know that, I'm not very good at thinking fast though!
