Samsung 'student' deal - up to £50 cashback

Samsung are currently running a 'student' cashback deal offering cashback of between £20 - £60. It is payable on purchases of selected computer monitors, printers and laptop computers. It is only valid on purchases made up to 01/11/11.
I have read and re-read the terms and conditions at: w w w.samsungcashback.com/student/terms.php (www includes spaces cos I'm a new user!).
Nowhere does it actually say that you have to be a student to qualify.
After the purchase you have 30 days to send off the invoice, etc. to show you have made the purchase from an 'authorised retailer' (e.g. Amazon). You don't have to send any evidence that you are a student.
I ordered one of their laptops today and will be sending off for the cashback, so will see how it goes!

have you had your cashback through yet? I had my approval email through, waited 30 days before emailing - said to allow a further 10-14 days, but still nothing!0

I bought a laptop under this deal thinking I would receive £50 cashback so I sent off my form and called Samsung 5 weeks later (as it says the payment can take up to 30 days) for them to tell me they have never received my claim and can't help me now because the promotion is now closed. I bought my laptop on 25th October and it was for purchases before 1st November so by the time I waited 30 days obviously the promotion would have closed! CON!0

I applied for the student cashback on a Samsung printer and received notification of validation and approval 10th November. I still have not received the cashback payment.
I emailed them after 30 days, their reply - it should be with you in 10 days.
10 (working) days later their response to my latest email is - it's with the accounts department for payment, marked priority, it should be with you in 7 to 10 days.
This promotion is being managed, not very successfully, by Opia Limited, www . opia . co . uk (remove spaces), who manage quite a few cashbacks. My next step is to write to Andrew Garrihy, Marketing Director at Samsung, to express my dissatisfaction at the way this promotion is being managed on their behalf.0 -
I have been waiting 4 months for cash back I know others who have been waiting longer.
9 e-mails to samsung no good.
Last reply asked me to phone my bank details in that was on the 22nd November still nothing.
This is the phone number but it seems a waste of time.
please call us on 0843 308 3778, with your Sort code, Account number, Payee name and Bank name.

It is intresting that if you have a problem with your product you call OPIA who seem to deal with samsung/LG and DELL perhaps it would be best not to buy any product that this company deals with.
I have sent a letter to Gateshead Trading Standards per my cash back complaint as they are next door to OPIA.0 -
Well, I thought I'd give Opia one last chance and emailed them with the threat off writing to Andrew Garrihy, Marketing Director at Samsung. I got a response from Debbie Jorgensen, Opias Operations Director, confirming my claim is wating to be paid but as yet no payment so I am penning the letter to Andrew now.0

@Nightowl I also wanted to write to Andrew Garrihy as I like many of the rest of you have had the numerous emails promising payment within 7-10 days, still waiting after 4 months. I did threaten writing to Mr Garrihy and then received an email claiming they attepted payment but had incorrect back details. I enquired as to what was incorrect but they were unable to tell me, so Nightowl, if you could let me know the email of Mr Garrihy I too will let him know how unprofessionally and dishonestly his company is being represented.0

I'm glad I found this thread & now know I'm not alone with the difficulties in getting the cashback offer paid.
I've been getting nowhere with Samsung for 3 months except the usual excuses such as heavy demand for the offer or bank details missing (which they weren't).
I live in Dublin, Ireland & when I checked my bank account today I found I had finally been paid. Except I was paid €50 (Euro) rather than £50 so I'm down 20%. Now I admit it's not a vast sum of money but the people dealing with my claim have made it as awkward as possible so I emailed them yet again & politely asked for the balance to be paid to me only to be told that the cashback offer was not for £50 (Pounds) but rather 50.00 (No Currency) & as I live in the Eurozone I had to be paid in Euro. What utter rubbish! So it's the straw that finally broke the camel's back. Time to email Mr. Garrihy. I'm guessing Mr. Garrihy, Marketing Director, Samsung UK will have plenty of emails from unhappy customers to read when he gets back to the office next week.0 -
After a few weeks delay, I received my cashback. To be fair to Samsung as soon as I raised this as an issue with Mr Garrihy and Mr Eames (I think that was his name!) then it wa sorted immediately. Very polite people and I think they did everything they could to sort things outonce they new that their payments company were screwing up!! - bit annoying but all resolved now.0
