up til last year I was still buying vests/camisole tops for my DD to wear under her school shirts, but she didn't wear them unless it was the depths of winter. She's 10, and I can't recall her wearing vests at all under her normal clothes for at least the last 3 or 4 years. But at 4, yes, she wore vests.

DS7 told me last year vests were 'rubbish' and wore plain white T's under his school polo's and jumper, but only because he claims the school never put the heating on! At home, he just wears his normal T shirt and a jumper/shirt over the top.

Vests until he was around 3 or 3 and a half I don't remember them on when he went to primary school but I know that my OH used to insist on son having an old t-shirt underneath his school uniform to keep warm.:D

  • Mine haven't worn vests since they were about 2 years old - but I think they're just naturally warmer than other children :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
they all looked at me in horror as though I had committed some sort of fashion crime!.

Fashion crime, for four year olds? Seems to me a worse fault to risk underdressed kids, or crippling heating bills!
  • How times have changed! I wore vests in winter until I was about 14 or 15. Comfort was always more important than fashion, especially in a school with inadequate heating.
  • I wore vests under my school blouse until I was 12! :rotfl:
I was thinking the other day that I should probably invest in some for me and OH to wear this winter :o and we're 27.

  • I havent put vests on mine since they were about 18 months or so. My eldest DD has eczema and I found the vest annoyed her and my son he is a very warm child and the slighest bit of too much heat and he has a sweat rash. My youngest DD whom is about to be 1 I think shall continue to wear them about the same length as she has eczema too x

My dad's still trying to make me wear vests and I'm nearly 24! Lol.

I think keep them going until she doesn't want to wear them anymore then swap for a t-shirt or a summer vest. I've always been a cold person and would never turn down an extra layer but my bf is still wearing shorts. We look a bit weird walking down the street me all wrapped up and him with bare arms and legs! Being warm is what's important so any way she's cosy it doesn't really matter. :)
