My eldest wore vests until about the age o 9 or 10, I've already stocked up on vests for my 8 and 6 yr olds!0

im about to buy new vests for my 2 and 5 year old. meant to have a bad winter and they will need it. im stocking up on warmer clothes for us all now (me especially as ive dropped 2 dress sizes since last winter so nowt fits!)
tbh they can moan all they like (not that i think they would) coz i dont want them getting ill or me having to pay another ridiculious gas bill!0 -
DD is 8 and DS is 5 and they both wear vests. Why wouldn't they? What am I going to do, let them freeze incase some of my so called "friends" think it's amusing that I make sure my kids are warm in school? In any case, it's not something any of my friends would find odd. I'd never even thought about it, it's just something they wear when it's cold.
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
oops!
Just realised I put kisses at the end of my last post! I am going to send kisses to someone really inappropriate one day if im not careful!0 -
It depends on the child - if they feel cold without the extra layer then a vest is a good idea.
I've never bought vests although mine wore the bodysuit type of vest until they were about 1 or 2 I suppose. They don't wear jumpers either, unless we are going out for the day in winter.
My kids don't get cold - unless it's snowing they don't even wear a jumper for school. We're still going to school in short sleeves here, although my youngest takes a coat for playtime (because unless it's summer they are not allowed out without one). Half the kids are wearing a jumper and a coat in the playground and they don't seem hot, but I would be much too hot if I wore a cardigan or jumper and I suppose my kids are like me, they're just not cold.52% tight0 -

To be fair, the people who said it were the same group of people who bought their LOs ugh boots and iPads at 4 years old! Dont plan on copying that trend either!xx
that does kind of say it all really, doesn't it?0 -
As for it being a fashion faux pas ... I don't have girls, but I imagine that it's more a case of some girls don't wear them than it actually being something to 'avoid'.
Plenty of people have said here that their kids wear vests or did at age 4, but if yours has just started reception she might be noticing differences - my son's best friend is a girl and she is much more observant than my boys ever wereShe could tell you what people have in their lunchboxes, what type of school bag they have etc. and what sort of shoes they wear.
You could ask the teacher perhaps? See if other girls that age wear vests, and if your daughter has heard a comment by another girl about vests being strange, maybe the teacher could say something positive about how cosy vests are now that the weather's getting colder, just in passing.52% tight0 -
DS never wore them after he came out of bodysuits and nappies, but he's always been a hot child. I've given up on asking him to take a coat to school. DD I really can't remember.
I don't recall vests but I can't think why I didn't get them, I suppose it's cos I wasn't buying them for the eldest so never thought about it. Neither has ugg boots or an ipad. Not even the Secondary school age one.

My girls wore vests until they were about 9 or 10, then moved on to the crop tops. DGS who is two and a half has started wearing one over the last week again for the winter. Tesco have 3 for £2.50 and they wash and dry really well given the price.Every days a School day!0
