Here's a really random question for you, what age did your LO stop wearing vests as an extra layer.
I mentioned to my friends the other day that I needed to get my 4 year old daughter some new vests and they all looked at me in horror as though I had committed some sort of fashion crime!
Have I? She's only 4 and winter is coming, I don't want her to be cold, but at the same time I don't want her to feel different to her friends. (she is starting to notice things like that).

My daughter is 4 and once the Winter really sets in I'll be getting her vests for sure, as we walk to and from school.
If I think there's a risk she'll be cold, she'll be getting them, whether she wants them or not!
It never crossed my mind that she might be "too old" for them or that anyone had an opinion on the topic!!
Do what you think's best for your child. That's what you're there for.
Good luck!0 -
My 7 year old dd wont wear them so wears crop tops as she doesnt want the boys to see her nippples when they change for PE.
My 9 year old son hasnt worn them since about 3 or 4.Shut up woman get on my horse!!!0 -
My son (5) still wears vests and I and will be doing the same with my daughters when older, I have seen some of they crop tops in primark n they don't appeal to me at all.. when I was 9 and went swimming once I forgot to pack a vest and I was upset and it just didn't feel right, I had a few crop tops but they just make me feel yeuch.
As long as your kid is happy to wear them I'd go with it.0 -
I'm still wearing vests as an extra layer :rotfl::rotfl:
No, I agree, it really shouldn't be an issue at 4. Seems very young to be fashion-conscious and vain about something like that.0 -
My DD is 10, this is the first year she isn't wearing vests, she'd got fair sized buds now so she's wearing crop tops/my first bra at the moment, but I think she'll still want to wear a vest in the winter, alot of girls in her class still wear vests.
My boys stopped when they were about 10 too.
IMO 4 is much too young to stop wearing vests. Keeping our little ones warm in winter is what's important, not what's 'fashionable'. Children grow up too fast nowadays as it is, sad that your friends want to make their daughters fashion victims at the age of 4.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
My DD is nearly 8, shes not worn vests for a few years. i wish she would though, she sometimes wears crops tops. My older two were probably 5 or 6 when they wouldn't wear them. I would think 4 is fine, and as long as your dd is happy to wear them.0

My DDs wear a thin t-shirt under their clothes in the winter.0

When my boys decided they were too old for vests (about 8 or 9) they were quite happy to wear a plain white T shirt instead.
My daughter is 17 and still wears vests in winter but the everyday summer wear ones not the underwear type.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
My grandson doesn't wear vests. He is 3.5. He hasn't worn a vest since he came out of bodysuits to go into pants.
He wears a t-shirt, jumper and fleece in the winter all wrapped up in a coat. Surely a t-shirt does pretty much the same thing as a vest?0 -
My 4 yo dd insists on a vest everyday even in the eight of summer!
My 13 stopped wearing vests early as he is a hot thing quite naturally - though last winter he did wear those 'compression' thermal sports tops under his school stuffPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.
