I know some MBNA cards permit money transfers (BTs into current accounts)

They are Money Transfers into current account, not BT's, the rates can be different.

Just got my Barclaycard. So who are the mysterious hand delivery company who shove them through ?
Other egg features you lose include card pin change online. Oh and customer service. So Barclays have basically purchased a customer list for so many £ millions.

Just got my Barclaycard through too as a replacement my egg money card, not too happy about the forced change as I despise Barclays but I guess that's the way the World is these days.

Dismayed to read about the loss of on line PIN change but at least it can be changed at a Barclays cash machine, so their FAQs say.

I do think that they'll slowly downgrade the 1% cash back. Just sorry I can't get a Capital One as my wife had a CCJ a long time ago which I'm guessing is why they didn't accept my application

I've just inquired as to whether my 'pay full amount every month direct debit' will still be valid for Barclaycard once it replaces my Egg card.

In answer to cing0, yes they do have a secure messaging service which you can use once you've registered.

But does it count as a "Cash Advance" i.e. 29.9% APR?

Because paypal have not developed a web/mobile token payment system to pay for things in shops for those who don't use cash and I don't know of any employers who have moved from BACS salary payment to paypal.

err.........I didn't say I don't understand why people use credit cards.........I said I don't understand why people need to deal frequently with credit card companies. For example I haven't called Egg since 2006.

Why would buying a coffee in Nero's count as a cash advance?

Contactless is just another way of paying for goods or services with your card. So you now have Contactless, Chip and Pin, Swiped or keyed.

Having said that - I've never managed to get either of my Barclays debit cards to work on the damned contactless terminals in Nero's anyway so I'm not hopeful for the credit card.

I got my card today. It was thoughtfully packaged.
I won't use the card until I have online access.

Why should it? A purchases is a purchase.
