[Edit: Oops - Didn't see you'd followed-up with confirmation yourself; I'll leave this here anyway in case others are wondering similarly]

    Thanks anyway :)

It appeared on my account in a similarly ambiguous way!

Just to add my experience, I got an email saying my payment was due. I went to the website just to check they hadn't messed up an not transfered my direct debit pay in full. But looks like they did set it up right Horraaay! .....

but like other I have an intrest charge!...

I have sent the message telling them about it and if I have to deal with it on the phone I will expect to be compensated for my time.

I must be one of the lucky ones...

I have had no problems at all, no interest charges, I've paid at the pumps with my card, cashback is showing correctly! They have even raised my credit limit despite Egg refusing to do so for about 5 years! I actually prefer using the Barclaycard online system. All nice in my world (for now!) You can bet I have just jinxed it!!

Ditto!!! I've also been offered a nice BT deal, thank you very much :D

I finally used my barclaycard for the first time this week and i've made two online purchases. The first is pending the correct amount but the second is showing incorrectly as £25.01 when I should have been charged £25.00. I'm not overly bothered about a penny but why would this have happened? Will it fix itself once cleared or has the merchant overcharged me? I've never seen this occur before.

    Thanks!

It wasn't for fuel from a Tesco pump by any chance?

  • I'm another who's been charged interest despite having a direct debit set up to pay the full amount. Was initially fobbed off after my first online query so I've just written a longer letter and sent it (along with a copy online) to the Customer Relations department:

I've enclosed a copy below if anyone wants to borrow from it.

    Account: Barclaycard World Mastercard
    Card Number Ending: xxxx

    Dear Sir,

My account is configured to automatically pay the full outstanding amount by direct debit each month.

Taking my statement dated xx September 2011 as an example, the closing balance was £xx.xx and a payment of £xx.xx was made automatically by direct debit on xxth October. This is as expected.

My statement for xxth October 2011 shows a balance of £xx.xx.

I would have expected that on or around the xxth November, a payment of £xx.xx would have been requested from my bank and credited to my account. This didn’t happen. This left my account with an unpaid balance of £xx.xx, which has now accrued interest. This may also have been marked on my credit file as “non payment”.

Your system should have taken the full outstanding amount (as it did for the previous month and every other month) and the fact that it didn't is what I am contesting.

I would like the matter resolving as follows:
    1. Refund the interest that was charged.
    2. Ensure my credit file is correct and that your error does not result in my account being marked with a non payment.
    3. Explain to me why this happened and reassure me that it won’t happen again.
    4. Compensate me for the time I have had to spend investigating this matter; the letter and postage costs; and the cost of requesting an up to date copy of my credit file to check it is factually correct.
If you would like to discuss the matter with me directly, please contact me on xxxxx xxxxxx.

    Yours sincerely,

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  • I had my first statement from Barclaycard last week and interest had been charged although I pay the full balance each month. When I rang, the person the other end immediately said that it was an error as Egg had trasferred the wrong details over and I would get a credit which has appeared on my statement. I wonder how many people check their statements and will have paid the interest unknowingly. Mine was only £3.42 but I imagine hundreds of people have ex[erienced the same error. I've alos had to ring them as I can't seem to top up my phone with the card and this morning I was told that it would be OK now but having just tried again I will have to ring them. they had the cheek to say that I had input the details incorrectly! Anyone else experienced this?

No it was The Hut online retailer. I can now confirm the correct amount has been charged. The 1p only showed up whilst payment was pending.

I take it the statement date has changed then... no sign of the next one which is due.

Ditto, mine was due 5th Dec. It's also a worry that this month's payment is marked as £0.00 when I've got a balance on the card and usually pay full balance. There's also a pending interest payment due on next statement if not paid in full. Waiting for this statement to find out what's going on!
