Just a tip on typing out Private Messages to Barclaycard:

Don't! You will most surely run out of time. And clicking on 'extra time' doesn't seem to work because typing a message counts as 'inactivity whilst logged on'.

Instead, type it in Word or somewhere and then 'Copy and Paste' it into the message box.
• Not long checked my statement and have a £1 interest charge despite paying off my full balance - as I always do.

I this the £1 fee they levy on customers each month?

As a long-term egg customer I never had to pay the fee. Do I have to now its barclaycard?
• Has anyone seen a refund (of interest) appear on their account yet?

If so how long did it take?

Doubt it. On my statement the £1 fee is shown as "Monthly Membership Fee".
"It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis
• I had to get a replacement card due to problems activating the first one they sent. Barclays tried to get payment from my main bank on the old card and it bounced. Now I've got interest showing.
I've sent a secure message as I can't face the call centre. My bank was very helpful and a nice scottish lad spent ages trying to help me work out where the problem lay. :AShame they don't offer cashback!
• I must be one of the lucky ones...

I have had no problems at all, no interest charges, I've paid at the pumps with my card, cashback is showing correctly! They have even raised my credit limit despite Egg refusing to do so for about 5 years! I actually prefer using the Barclaycard online system. All nice in my world (for now!) You can bet I have just jinxed it!!

I have to agree with you - especially the credit limit increase bit!
• Hi all,

Sorry if this is covered it's become quite a long thread; I just received a vaguely worded email from Barclaycard saying "Payement Due". The letter doesn't acknowledge that I have a DD set-up at all; it merely states "Finally, if you have already set up a direct debit, please remember that your payment will be made on or before the payment due date."

Now as far as I know the DD was transferred over from Egg, and myBarclaycard does show that a DD (full balance) is set-up, but I just checked my online banking and the old Egg DD (with old card number) is the only one that is showing (Active), and I've read in the thread that people are seeing a new Barclaycard DD with their new card number.

Kinda worried now that it's not transferred properly and payment won't be taken, or would I not expect to see the new Barclaycard DD appear until it had been requested for the first time?

Ta!

It might depend on which bank you have the DD set up with. I'm with Smile and the new Barclaycard DD is showing even though nothing has been taken yet. It has the correct 16-digit card number as reference.

Ask me again in four-ish days when the first payment is due to be taken. :)

And there was me reading all these horror stories about the Egg>BC change and thinking 'Glad none of this has happened to me'.

I got my cards and PINs, logged on with no probs, new DD set up with my bank, just haven't go round to use it yet, got told my first e-statement was available. Thought I'd check my BC card which said I could set up a DD- 'don't need to- my bank has the new DD'. WRONG!!

It was there- now it isn't!! I didn't delete it- why would I? My bank wouldn't delete it- why would they? So it can only have been BC- why would they?

Done another DD online at BC, but will pay my first statement by debit card in good time!

+1 Exactly the same for me and I paid by debit card
