So what do egg credit card customer lose out on? Does Barclaycard have secure messaging? What's the interest free period on this Barclaycard?

56 days interest free, which is an improvement.

Loss of purchase protection insurance etc as in my previous post.

They may also review your interest rate & credit limit as part of the takeover.

Haven't investigated the rest of it yet, but I gave up having a barclaycard some years ago when I got fed up with their T&C and customer service, and I'm not happy about being forced to deal with them again.

I virtually never deal with credit card comapnies or banks.
What do you buys have to deal with them for?
    Just interested really.

Begging them to reinstate 0% offers after not having read the T&Cs, judging by lots of the posts on here. :D

Will Egg credit card customers now find they’re dealing with offshore customer services call centres?
For now, nothing changes - Egg credit card customers will continue to be serviced as they are today.

    Fine and dandy.

I think I may well be cancelling my card. Off now to look for alternatives who will accept someone who's retired...

The Saga card are known to and offer 0% for 9 months on purchases and balance transfers, with 11.9% APR follow-on rate, which is pretty darn good IMHO.
    Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
  • With the demise of the Egg Money card does anyone know of an alternative card that will accept a positive balance from a balance transfer and let you pass it on to an awaiting current account feelessly?

Because paypal have not developed a web/mobile token payment system to pay for things in shops for those who don't use cash and I don't know of any employers who have moved from BACS salary payment to paypal.

I have the bog-standard Egg Card & got the email this morning.

Ditto - I have now received emails for both of my Egg cards. Have to say I am slightly surprised, given that I never used the original Egg Card now - thought they would this the opportunity to cancel it.

Compared to the Egg Money card, there is no real reason to use the Egg Card (or their Barclaycard replacements)

Interestingly, if slightly OT, Egg are closing my unused savings account before that transfers to YBS. Guess I better start using First Direct Plus (or another alternative to Money Manager)

    Regards

I notice there is a £12 a year fee for this new barclaycard for those opening an account after 2009 - I'm presuming the transfer means this does not apply, but do keep an eye on those bills folks.
