This was stopped, but the card is still good for putting the card into debt by transferring balances into current accounts, THEN doing the BT.
If this is going to change it may lose its reputation as the perfect "mule" card. Are there any other cards that permit this or do I finally need to cancel my Egg Money?
I know some MBNA cards permit money transfers (BTs into current accounts) but I don't know if the account has to be in debit. Can't see how they can check that?
Doing the BT from egg money first wouldn't be good though as you would end up with two transfer fees. As said earlier though, at the moment you can just use egg money as you used to and have a credit balance.
I had my egg card email today - egg money email last week. That will make 3 Barclaycards.0 -

Does anybody know how this change affects our credit files?
- Right now the Egg card shows up on my file. Will this then show as settled and a new account with Barclaycard show up?
- Will the account just convert from Egg to Barclaycard on my file?
- Are they likely to perform any credit searches?
ThanksThey call me Mr Pig!0 -
According to terms and conditions it stopped being a facility they offered.
However anecdotally it looks like they did not enforce it.
I would guess they never updated their computer systems.
Now it will be a completely different IT system, I don't think you can rely on the loophole still working.
Yes you used to get interest on positive balances on the Egg card - I remember putting lots of money on it as at the beginning of this last financial crisis they left the interest rate at 4% for months after everyone else reduced to 1% or 2%0 -
- Are they likely to perform any credit searches?
Whichever way Barclaycard choose to report the account it is unlikely to have a material effect on your credit file. Your overall credit (used and available) will not change as a result of the takeover.0 -

Apparently so, as confirmed by email from Barclaycard stating my Visa card will also be replaced.0
