Could be that your card is a full authorisation only card. If this is true then it will never work at a pay at the pump terminal.

Mine doesn't work at pumps either. CL: £5k balance: <£500

If they though I was a credit risk why did the transfer me at all, and why at the same CL?

Everything seems ok now and received my latest statement. I clear the account every month and have a current balance of £171.00. However if not paid off in full the interest will be about £4.61 next month and according BC my apr is 16.9%.

Not quite sure how they arrived at that figure.
  • Well phoned up again to check my direct debit date (last time I phoned they had no answer other than "to call back tomorrow") - and I was told that they had no record of it. I reminded them I had it set up with Egg, and asked what had happened, and the operator just repeated the same information back to me "Sir, we have no record of it". We did this circle a few times before I just relented and let them set up a new one... which of course couldn't be set up in time to take the current balance, so i'll have to make a manual payment.

I hope that it will be the last time I ever have to speak to their sorry excuse for a "Customer Service" department, but I sadly fear it won't be.
  • Hi. Have there been any other complaints at all about missing transactions?
A refund that was put onto my Egg card is not showing on my Barclaycard statement, even now, after they have supposedly sorted out all the problems. All the purchases are there, but not the refunds from retailers where I have taken an item back.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there anyone that returned an item to a store in the few days running up to the transfer?

    Thanks. SC.

I've had an item of £2 sitting in my "Pending Transactions" total for a week now, I haven't bought anything for that amount, anyone else found a similar problem where their pending transactions total isn't accurate?

They'll probably be pre-auth transactions - just ignore it and it'll go away eventually.

My transfer seems to have gone through smoothly. First payment will go through later this month a new Barclays dd is showing on my bank account.

I have not checked but will this transfer have any effect on our credit report. Will egg be shown as paid and a new Barclaycard account appear?

Got an email this morning to tell me that my statement is ready (2 days earlier than egg) but the DD seems to be leaving on the usual date of the 5th for me. The online banking has updated to show that the full amount will be taken by DD. I might just send over a minimum payment anyway to make sure. DD is showing on the list on my bank account, has been from switch over but I want to see the DD taken with my own eyes before I trust them!

Just thought i'd weigh in with a positive note to show that not everyone is suffering with Barclays.

I've had no trouble whatsoever with the transition. My Direct Debit was taken on the day promised and showed up in both my Barclaycard and bank account that day. I've not had any interest charges and my cashback amount appears to be correct.

The only erroneous information is that Barclays have 'BANK' as my bank name rather than the relevant institution. Thankfully this doesn't seem to have caused any problems.

However, I won't be happy if indeed this card prohibits use at unmanned points of sale such as petrol pumps which is exactly what my new Visa Debit card prohibits and is according to some nothing more than a glorified Electron card! I've never had an Electron but I've always been under the impression they should be avoided because you can't use them everywhere.

Why are banks going backwards and taking away useful functionality...is it all down to fraud?

*EDIT* I've been reading up on debit and credit cards. Apparently credit cards are always offline so why then does this Baclaycard not work at pay at pump?

    Barclaycard (FAQ's) say:
You can continue to earn cashback on your day-to-day spending as you do today. You'll get 1% on the purchases you make up to a maximum of £200 each year. Any existing cashback balance will be transferred to your new Barclaycard account and cashback will continue to be paid in March, as long as you've earned over £5. Terms and conditions apply.

However my £35 of EGG cashback has NOT appeared on my new Barclaycard statement... only the 1% from current month Barclaycard spend.

Is this only happening to me?:(
