Egg to Barclaycard Transition Update

DD due today and NOT taken! Beware!!
Barclaycard have set up the DD instruction with my bank. Payment is due today and has not been taken. Checked my Barclaycard account online and it quite clearly shows the DD set up with due date 10 Nov.
When I called, the girl told me that DD was only set up on 5 Nov and it can take up to 12 working days to activate, so it wouldn't take the payment today! Apparently, I should have been informed of this (first I have heard). I asked her when the next DD collection will be taken and she said December. What a joke!!! She apologised for " any inconvenience this might cause for late payment charges and bad credit markers" but could offer no solution.
I have made a manual payment by debit card which she assures me will be credited to my account today. Not convinced though. I am absolutely furious, especially as I contacted Egg last week to check whether I should make a manual payment. They told me there was no need as my DD would be collected as usual.
Strange - my DD would normally go out on the 10th, but it was collected on 9th November (saying Payment to Egg card, as before), and has been credited to my account when I checked today, so some at least have gone through OK.0 -

Update - after emailing the CEO's office, I received a call within 10 minutes. Apparently, they have no idea why the call centre told me the DD takes 12 days as this is completely wrong! The office did say that Bcard take the DD at the end of the day (Egg took it in the morning) so their systems won't show any payment until they update overnight. So, it seems my DD may yet be taken.0 -
I had an Egg card but I repaid the balance in full and closed the account in mid-September. So I was a bit surprised to see a new DD for Barclaycard set up on my current account this morning as I don't have a Barclaycard and closed the Egg card in September before the account servicing transferred to Barclaycard this week. I've also never received any new account details for Barclaycard (I wouldn't have expected to of course as I've closed the Egg account)
I queried this with Egg but they just told me to phone Barclaycard as they have transferred all the account details over to them. Well, knickers to that!! I can just imagine phoning up a foreign call centre about a Barclaycard account I don't have any account number for about an Egg card I closed in September:wall:
I've already had a secure message from Egg in September confirming that the account is closed and this shows on a credit report so this must just be a mistake but thought it might be useful to give a heads up to anyone with a closed Egg card to check their direct debits. Although I don't owe them any money I have asked my bank to cancel mine to be on the safe side!!0 -
MRSW, wonderful - not!!! At the moment my direct debit is due in 18 days time, so it tells me on MyBarclaycard which does sound about right. It also says that its taking the full amount, which is also correct. I shall keep an eye on it though.
Cashback is still at £10 or whatever that I earnt last month though  rather than the £67 I had with Egg.0 -
Now on my 3rd "You have used your old Egg card and you shouldn't have" email and I literally cut up my Egg card on Monday morning and starting using my Barclaycard so no idea at all what they're referring to.
Surely they're clever enough to know that Egg card transactions initiated over the 2 or 3 days prior to Nov 7th may not hit their systems for a few days after the "changover" date..!0 -

!!!!!!!!. Looks like I have to suffer for another 4 months
Stick it in a drawer and close it down when you've got the money.
A bit of pain, but nothing more.0 -
You can add me to the surprise interest group.
Can anyone explain "merchandise interest at 1.31% per month", which apparently isn't covered under the pay DD in full!!0 -
Message deleted as it was !!!!!!!!. Can a moderator delete this post please?
Thanks!0
