    Agreed.

No problems here. Cashback showing correctly - I took print outs to ensure I could prove what it was supposed to be. Direct debit transferred correctly. Quite happy with the service so far. The web interface seems better than Egg as well, with more detailed information available on transactions.

I was all for cancelling the card when I heard Barclays had bought the account. But having seen the website and the fact that they have kept the 1% cashback means they keep me as a customer.

Until they remove the cashback, of course. Then I'll be off.

I also agree - the Barclaycard web site is excellent. Certainly among the best, if not THE best, I have ever used.

The transition has also gone quite smoothly for me - I've had no problems at all. I forgot to save my Cashback amount before it was too late, but the value certainly looks about right, so I'm confident they have not attempted to rip me off.

I also like the concept of PayPass, although I have had no opportunity to use it yet.

I will also be continuing to use the card, until the Cashback is dropped.

Does anyone know how the new Barclaycard treats gambling transactions?

I have a Barclaycard VISA and gambling transactions are not treated as cash transactions.

Hi Has anyone got a free phone number for Barclaycard. They really want me to phone 0844 8119111 but not at rip off rates I won't. I found an alternative 01604 230230, just about to try it. The other option is to go into the local branch and use their phone.

Just tried it. Incase it's of any help, they put you through to someone who is a member of the old Egg team. Might be worth making a note of if you have questions for Egg. Don't be put off by the the message saying it's for lost or stolen cards only. Mention Barclaycard and get quoted the 0844 number.

That's covered in the Terms and Conditions document they sent me with my card. Specifically clause 3.1, first bullet point. In summary, yes, Gambling transactions are treated as Cash transactions.
  • I've just had to return a faulty item bought with my Egg card - I hope the refund will be transferred by Egg to my new B/C account. Anyone had this happen already?

I'll second that, I am in the same position:
-Statement says DD is supposed to go out on 10th (I was paying the Egg amount in full); however the Your Account page on the barclaycard website states DD is due on 11th - go figure!
-No money taken from my bank account yesterday - cue Online message from me last night (no meaningful e-mail response, just a reference number)
-Phoned in this morning, after seeing no money yet has left my bank account. Useless exercise - CSR couldn't confirm anything I was interested in with certainty and I couldn't get him to send me a message in writing they will reverse potential late fees/charges. Apart from vague assurance there will be no adverse on my CRA files and request to phone them again tomorrow.
Unimpressed, but will wait for the cashback to be paid (sigh)
Anyone else in similar position? What would Charles Bronson do in this situation?

DD due yesterday, not taken. Just had two missed calls on my mobile and a message left (despite my answering message being DON'T LEAVE ME A MESSAGE AS I NEVER HAVE ANY MONEY ON MY PHONE) - which could be them.

I got assurances from Egg the DD would transfer just fine, 1 day before it was due it wasn't showing on my pending transactions on current account - messaged Barclaycard telling them I wouldn't be held responsible for any failures.
Next day - not taken. Emailed complaints team ranting and raving; copying in egg message saying DD would go across fine.

    !!!!ing useless.

I find voicemail of little use so it's switched off. People can call you back (which 9 times out of 10 is the message they are going to leave you anyway, particularly companies who then think "the ball is in your court").

Some are easier than others to switch off e.g. Vodafone can be done via phone menus, Virgin you need to call them.

Off subject, but if you want a free voicemail try:
    http://www.hullomail.com/uk/index.html

It will send you an email with a MP3 of the voicemail for free to listen to on your computer or you can listen on the phone.

I have been using for a year and it works very well, much better than the expensive Tmobile voice mail service.
  • My switchover seems to have gone slightly smoother than most - all cash back and previous Egg statements and transactions seem to have shown up OK so far.

However, this morning I received a txt saying my statement i ready and payment needs to be made by 30th Nov.

Now when I was with Egg I always had until 11th of the following month to pay by, and as I get paid on the 28th each month this worked out quite well.
With the date having moved forward 11days I'm not going to be able to pay off in full and will get suckered for the interest.

All seems VERY underhanded to me!

Has anyone else's DD date changed to the 30th? I see people here still saying theirs will / should collect on 11th.
