DD due yesterday, not taken. Just had two missed calls on my mobile and a message left (despite my answering message being DON'T LEAVE ME A MESSAGE AS I NEVER HAVE ANY MONEY ON MY PHONE) - which could be them.

I got assurances from Egg the DD would transfer just fine, 1 day before it was due it wasn't showing on my pending transactions on current account - messaged Barclaycard telling them I wouldn't be held responsible for any failures.
Next day - not taken. Emailed complaints team ranting and raving; copying in egg message saying DD would go across fine.

    !!!!ing useless.

If you're with O2, you can either:

    - call 1710 (free) and this will enable their call alert service. You'll then get a text message each time you miss a call detailing the number, rather than a request to call into your voicemail. Useful, because you'll know about calls you missed when the phone was turned off / out of signal.
    - call 1760 (free) to turn off voicemail. If you're phone is unavailable, they'll be told so. You won't learn about missed calls, unless they call back.

I thought the Barclaycard blurb said DDs were being taken later because Barclaycard give you a longer interest free period, though if you don't pay the balance in full, this leaves you with a higher interest payment.

Mine says it will be one day earlier.

With Egg it was always 1st month (or first working day after).

For my first statement (received today) with Barclaycard they have said they will take payment on 30th November.

On the subject of the DD date, since it looks like mine will now being taken 1 day earlier than the Egg DD was (makes no difference to me anyway) I went and checked the blurb again... In the welcome booklet (page 8) it actually says "payment due on or around the same date" so guess that's ok then :p

Can you see all previous statements on your mybarclaycard account?

For mine I can, and I can go back through them and it aligns exactly with the printouts I kept of my egg statements.

(A bit late now, but what I do is use a PDF printer like http://www.pdfforge.org/ to save a PDF copy of my statements each month.)

Having checked everything it looks like the cashback is ok on my account.

(Saying that it appeared that Egg use to round up and down the cash back depending if the amount was above or below 0.5p, but from the looks of Barclaycard account they do not round up, but I am not going to argue over 1p.)

My switchover seems to have gone slightly smoother than most - all cash back and previous Egg statements and transactions seem to have shown up OK so far.

However, this morning I received a txt saying my statement i ready and payment needs to be made by 30th Nov.

Now when I was with Egg I always had until 11th of the following month to pay by, and as I get paid on the 28th each month this worked out quite well.
With the date having moved forward 11days I'm not going to be able to pay off in full and will get suckered for the interest.

All seems VERY underhanded to me!

Has anyone else's DD date changed to the 30th? I see people here still saying theirs will / should collect on 11th.

My statement date was 8th of the month with the DD taking off the full amount on the 27th of the same month. This seems to now be 28th, but fine so long as there's no interest being paid.

Re the cashback, it is still showing only the November month's cashback but if I go to the October statement the full amount is there. I'll wait till the 8th December (my next statement date) and then phone. Hopefully they will have sorted it all out by then.

    A shambles, Barclaycard!

PS - thanks to mbailey for the free voicemail tip - T-mobile don't seem to allow voicemail on my BlackBerry PAYG - and anyway, glad to have something free, so am trying out that. Very grateful.

Does anyone know what happens to the Direct Debit amount if I make an additional payment first using my Debit Card. I remember seeing this information somewhere on letters they sent me but I can't find it.

My Direct Debit is set up to take the full amount of my statement on the 22nd of each Month. However, I want to make the minimum payment now just in case there's an issue and the Direct Debit is not taken. Will the Direct Debit be for (a) the full amount less the minimum payment, (b) the full amount, or (c) will nothing be taken?
  • I've noticed as well, mine was allways the 1st month and statement date was the 13th. Now since Barclaycard have taken it over it's now 11th of the month for statements and payment date is the 30th.

Well according to page 8 of the welcome booklet (since I was going through it again earlier!) says:

"Any payments which reach your account before your DD is taken will reduce the amount of your DD payment for that month, if you've opted to pay either the full or minimum amount"

    so option a) then :)
