Egg to Barclaycard Transition Update

I've had very few problems too - the people complaining and wanting to cancel their cards are just cutting their nose off to spite their face because there are very few cashback Mastercards around any more! I'm sure within a week or two the problems will be resolved.0

Whatever you do, however well you do it, there are some who'll always moan and find something to complain about. Barclaycard, less than a week into their complete take-over of egg have done exemplarily well bar a few niggles that would be cleared up in the coming weeks. Nice, well organized, colourful layout and interface, near instantaneous reflection of payments made, and more. What more do people want after only a few days? Give them a chance to fine-tune the whole setup please.Money is like a bird.....if mishandled, will simply fly away....0

I suppose if your 'switch' went off smoothly then you would be happy, but that's not to say those whose didn't shouldn't feel miffed! (Or a bit worried.)
Personally, mine went well enough, just had to wait a few days for current transactions to show and a missing direct debit clearing my previous balance to also appear - it looked like it had disappeared into a black hole temporarily, but can't say I was worried or felt inclined to ring an Indian call centre. Patience was the key!
As for other cashback mastercards - we've just grabbed a Capital One card which will give back 5% on the first 2k spent within 3 months (99 days), max £100 cashback.
After that the cashback isn't as good as Egg/Barclaycard but TBH, I don't think Barclaycard will retain the full 1% for long! The Capital One card will be a good 'reserve' card after the 3 months are up (& doing my best to spend enough to get the full £100 cashback).
PS..........cashback earned on my last direct debit payment to Egg is still in that 'black hole' though - £7.50 which I WILL be complaining about - eventually!Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -

Monday was due to be the final completion date, after months of planning. For most people, nothing happened on that date. I've been told my Egg card might finally appear on my Barclaycard account in a further two or three days. What more do people want after only a few days? Give them a chance to fine-tune the whole setup please.
Bad management.0 -
Had a look at my account for the first time this morning and all is as it should be with a zero balance. Next step is to cancel it0

What more do I want ? Not to be charged interest I don't owe, not to have had to make 4 x phone calls to overseas call centres in the five days I've had the account to sort out issues, not to have had my card declined because apparently trying to pay for something online is a sign of fraud and means they must suspend my card. Oh and I'd quite like it if they didn't call me a liar when I said they hadn't called my mobile. They hadn't, they'd called my husband, who is the additional card holder. They haven't managed to link this card to his existing barclaycard log-in, but they have apparently managed to link him so that they ring him not me, and then tell him they can't speak to him because he's not the account holder...I've given them my correct mobile number every day this week though, so I'm sure they'll manage to update their records eventually.
Basically I just want a card I can use and that doesn't require me to spend time and money every day correcting their errors or reinstating my card or online access. Cashback a bonus, but frankly, £200 a year doesn't outweigh the hassle I've had so far. Unless the service improves dramatically, I'll be off.0 -
To me the Barclaycard site is 21st century compared to the archaic Egg one.
Agreed.
No problems here. Cashback showing correctly - I took print outs to ensure I could prove what it was supposed to be. Direct debit transferred correctly. Quite happy with the service so far. The web interface seems better than Egg as well, with more detailed information available on transactions.
I was all for cancelling the card when I heard Barclays had bought the account. But having seen the website and the fact that they have kept the 1% cashback means they keep me as a customer.
Until they remove the cashback, of course. Then I'll be off.0 -
I closed my Egg account after they tried to up the interest rate and am currently paying off the balance.
When it was an Egg card I still had full online access and could check my balance, my interest, my payment dates, make extra payments etc etc.
Now that it has been transferred to Barclaycard I have been told I will not have online access to the account and can pay my monthly bill by either making a cash payment at any Barclays bank (how Draconian lol) or if I am a Barclays customer I can use their online banking - those are my choices.
Surely the Terms of the sale would have included something along the lines of 'a like for like service'. After all the Egg account was an internet based account, now they want me to walk into a bank and pay cash over the counter, next you'll be telling me they are bringing back slavery!
I'm sorry Barclaycard but I want my online access back!!0 -
I entirely understand where you're coming from there, but some CCs do stop online access after you 'close' the account, all be it with a balance that you are paying off.
Mint did it to me, though MBNA are happy to still show such accounts even theough one of them has been settled for months.
Different Card Companies, different policies I guess.0 -
My point is it has been closed for the past 12 months and during that 12 months under Egg I had full online access, now with Barclaycard I don't. That's quite an extreme change in conditions - being able to fully access your account online to not being able to access it at all.
On the other toss of the coin I have a Barclaycard Platinum card which I have also closed to stop a rate hike, am paying it off but still have full online access to that account.
Go figure lol0
