Egg to Barclaycard Transition Update
Comments

Polite and concise email to CEO with a neatly numbered list of issues -> all sorted within a day by the exec office -> they're also crediting £50 to my account to apologise for the inconvenience (the main issue was my card not working!) -> me happy bunny
Edit: £50 goodwill payment now indeed showing in my recent transactions... Will maximise that by going to my nearest Boots event thing today where spending the £50 will give me an extra £12 in advantage points :rotfl:Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
If you cancel your account before the payment date of cash back, do you forfeit the accrued amount?0
-
So far have had 1 transaction at a petrol station cancelled by the system - nothing on barclaycard's system about that
Interest charged even though all payments up to date - have sent them a secure message about it
Cashback isn't right - but I'm assuming that's being worked on still.
Hopefuly card will work tomorrow when I need it!0 -
I also registered my new Egg -> Barclaycard card today and have also got a mysterious £1 pending transaction, despite not having used my Egg Card for five months before the changeover. So far I've only registered the new card with Barclaycard Secure (Verified By Visa) and not at PayPal where I've had a £1 transaction put on a new card in the past.
May be you got the £1 from when I registered my card on paypal last night. If only I could log on i could see my account! :-)0 -

Either it's from the gap between them failing to recognise last month's payment in full on 26th Oct and then realising I had paid, or it's because the payment in full DD was £189.23 less that the statement amount, due to a refund for that amount being applied before my DD was taken and they can't recognise that as paid in full. Have sent a complaint through...
I am though having a slight snigger that their customer service manager is a Mr McWeeney. I share an office with an american who refers to incompetents/idiots/irritants as weenies, it seems strangely apt...
Have they actually charged you interest on your November statement? There is a box which indicates that if your account isn't paid up by end-November, then the interest will be xxx. So, for me, my statement date is 8th November. My dd goes through on 27th November. The box is saying I'll pay £12 or so interest if the money is not received by then.
It worries me every time I see it, though!0 -
i sent a secure message last night, and picked the option "complain" about the fact that there was a message telling me i had missed a payment. an indian chap called me today, and went through my recent payments, and apologised and said the message is a mistake, and they are having problems with the online system which they are working on.
i think instead of ringing them, if you just send a secure message and pick "complain", they will get back to you within a few hours. other types of secure messages could take days for them to reply to u.0 -
update:
i have just logged in, and my account is working absolutely fine.
- not being logged out anymore when i try to navigate around the site
- my cashback is showing corrently
- my recent transactions are showing correctly
- and i no longer get a message telling me i have missed a payment.
so seems (at least for me), they have fixed all the problems.
* BTW - has anyone tried using their egg card since the changeover? i am tempted to use it to see what happens0 -
I have had nothing from Barclaycard yet. I am travelling and away from home (surely not the first banking customer to go abroad). I called the number they ask you to call if you are abroad and it is their lost and stolen cards line and they completely messed up my query. Have now started recording my rants on a wordpress blog about it as I am so fed up! I wish I could secure message them but have no details to log in with and international calls are expensive and getting me nowhere. pretty fed up. When I get home I'll be leaving them for sure. Badger lady - hope you don't mind that I quoted your blog, I totally empathise with you.0

I thought that.
Sent barclaycard a secure message asking them to confirm this. They "promised" a reply within 24 hours, which 36 hours on hasn't yet appeared!
It's not really worth getting worked up about. I'm sure everything will sort itself out (I'll check in a week to confirm though).0
