    ARGHHHHHH...

Now I have tried to use my new card to make a purchase with British Telecom but the card was rejected and failed...

Tried to call through to Barclaycard call centre and get the message "sorry we are busy, lots of people are calling us at the moment"...

Still can't get into my online account.

Not a good start Barclaycard. :-(

I had a phone call from the Barclays Web Relations team who are investigating my account.

Rather strangely their system is showing that I have now successfully logged into my account, although when I try it still comes back with the "System Error" message. They have gone to look at that again!

Also they don't understand why a transaction I tried to do yesterday failed as their system has no record of any failed transactions!

They have gone away to have another look and will call me back later today.

I want to return a few things I bought last week on my old egg card, how do I get a refund now? Will the old egg card work or will I have to explian in the shop to refund a different card from the one I paid with. I hate Barclaycard with a real passion I don't even like the colour of the card!! Bring back Egg

    Yes, everyone else, it seems.
  • I paid my egg card off in full through DD each month, is this automatically modified to pay off the Barclaycard?

Mine says it is. I changed it to full payment on the Egg site a couple of months ago and this instruction is visible on the Barclaycard site. It won't get tested until the next statement though as I had a nil balance last time around.

I've just tried my card in a shop and although I get the "PIN OK" message, the transaction didn't go through so they have definitely completely f'd-up my account. On a more positive note, my email to the CEO has yielded a reply in less than 3 hours :D and they are looking into things.
Now free from the incompetence of vodafail

A shop cannot insist you use a card that no longer works.
You need to be a little assertive here (polite but firm).

I've just signed up sucessfully - but got logged out when I tried to view recent transations.

One thing I hadn't expected is that I can't see any statements from before October. I didn't think to print them out - are they gone forever or is there something I missed? I don't remember any warnings that we had to print them out if we wanted to keep records.
  • I'm experiencing similar problems to everyone else here:

    1) Apparently I've missed a payment (I haven't).
    2) Cashback total is about £30 lower than is was on Egg.com the other week.
    3) Can't see recent transactions.
    4) Summary screen totals are wrong.

Given they've had a big run-up at this and the whole of Egg's Technology team at their disposal (instead of just sacking them all) to get this right, I'm disappointed to see things looking like this as my first day as a new Barclaycard customer.
  • As well as getting kicked out when trying to view recent transactions, having a wife born on 1 January 1810 and allegedly not having paid off last months balance in full on 1st November, I have another issue which I haven't seen mentioned above.

My Egg direct dedits were taken on the 1st of the month (or later if not a working day or the previous calendar month was less than 31 days). The bumph BC put out said explicitly that one's payment date shouldn't change. Yet my next payment date is now shown as 30th November - a day too early.
