Egg to Barclaycard Transition Update
Comments
-
Can't log in at all to MyBarcalycard at present although I could yesterday after I set it up. Link on the email telling me my statement is ready goes to a page telling me my bookmark is out of date.
In the past I have cancelled at least one barclaycard and 2 Barclays current accounts because of appalling service Doesn't look like it is getting any better. Did try an online chat with their helper but he just gave me a premium rate number to ring.
Guess it is time to switch to another card. Can't cancel this one though until I get my cahback in February.
Shame, I never had any problems with the comapnies behind Egg in the past.0 -
Changed my PIN and used it at ASDA yesterday. Fine.
Used it at HMV today, but when I got home I got a text message saying "you recently made a purchase with your egg money card, as this will soon be deactivated please use your Barclaycard World Mastercard for future transactions."
!!!!!!?
EDIT/
Just checked and those 2 transactions aren't showing up online :mad:0 -
I just got a call from the Exec office... we are getting somewhere - my card should now at least work in the shops and they are trying to get to the bottom of why I am unable to register for Barclaycard Secure/ use online.
The nice lady has also confirmed that my DD has indeed found its way to them and the "you have failed to make a payment" message on mybarclaycard is displayed in error. Both this and the missing cashback are issues that are being looked into. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -

Regarding my earlier question on DD, it never went out on 7th Nov because I heavily overpaid my card in the meantime and was in credit for some time. I was expecting two big transactions near my credit limit and wanted to make sure they will go through.
I had no problem registering to new online service. I added card to Egg Money Manager so I can see everything in one place again.
I have typical problems mentioned earlier:
-no previous transactions since last statement
-information about missing payment
-errors on website, etc.
I'm not really bothered by this. I will just wait for Barclaycard to resolve it.
I registered for Mastercard Secure Code and paid using the card without any problem.
I know that one transaction went out on Monday on my old Egg card, because I gave its number a month ago to one institution. I also got text message to stop using old card because it will be de-activated.
So after all old Egg card worked for a couple of days after cut off date.
I'm not sure about cashback amount, whether it's proper one, I have to check my previous statements.
As long as my cashback is paid and my extra insurance works, I don't care who owns my credit card. I hope they won't be blocking my card out of the blue as Egg did it twice this year.0 -

I just had a voice mail from the Exec office saying they couldn't get any details on my account so had no idea what was going on but would try again tomorrow!
I just tried calling the internet banking helpline and got through straight away to the call centre and was told "Yes there is a big problem, so please check the website in 48 to 72 hours and we hope to have it fixed".
I mentioned the failed transactions and they said nothing was showing on my account so I should try again and if it fails again call them immediately and they will check.0 -
'Tis a bit of a mess really... I'd love to have a word or two with the person in charge of the transition. They've had *months* to prepare for it, it's not like it got dumped on them with no warning. I'm sure it's not all that simple and straightforward but maybe they could have done it in batches rather than everybody in one go.Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

After finally being able to access the service after trying 5 times today  , my latest statement is ready. Cashback has been reset and interest of £20 charged despite payment in full set as a direct debit each month
This really is a shambles0 -
I went into the local branch today to see what's going on. They didn't know anything about the take over so had no idea why my new card hadn't turned up. No point in going to the branch then. They are hell bent on making you phone their premium 0844 number at 12.5p connection fee and 5.5p a min while on hold. I complained and they let me use their phone. This number should work at normal rates : 01604 230230. Good luck.0
