Egg to Barclaycard Transition Update

  • I only found out about the take over a few days ago. I haven't received a new card yet, only a letter with just a new card number. I cannot access basic balance info on the Egg site and with no card, cannot access Barclays. Should I panic ? I'm glad I found this site, thanks too all for info posted.
  • I have just registered my old Egg Money Card and everything has worked fine. It took about 10 minutes, was really easy, and the balances are spot on.

    No complaints at all.

Well no I don't think you should, but you could perhaps give them a call tomorrow? You should be able to access BC with just your card number and you credit limit (mine was the same as Egg's) I hope so because that's what it says on my letter. So you weren't told that you weren't getting a a BC card? (mind you they told me I would get one when I knew I wouldn't so...)

  • Thanks for that, I'll go into the local branch tomorrow to see exactly what's going on. I'll post what happens. No I wasn't told I wouldn't be getting one, just a new card number. It says I can't use the old egg one from today. To log in I need the 3 digit security code on the back of the card I don't have. I'm sure I'm worrying over nothing, thanks again for your help.

Have gone back into Egg's Money Manager, which is still 'a runner' for me because I opened a savings account a few days ago with just a £1 and added my new Barclaycard World Mastercard to my Accounts List.

Works a treat! Also, it appears at the top of the list of accounts, just like the old Egg account did.

I'm all registered now and Mandula at barclaycard is merging my accounts. I asked for a limit increase online and got immediate acceptance so may be worth trying if you fancy one

Does Barclaycard not run a credit check (hard) when you ask for a credit limit increase online? I thought they did.
Don't thank me, thank my post :T

    Successfully registered for mybarclaycard.

    Unfortunately there's a message
You have failed to make a minimum payment
Oh dear. That's not off to a good start as I have a DD set up for the full payment each month and my bank reckons it was successfully paid on 1 November. Lack of communications between Egg & BC?

I have the same message and always pay in full. My payment left my bank account on 4th November. I have sent them a secure message, don't want any penalties or taking the money out twice.

I've had Barclaycards before and this always happened when I changed my bank, it always took them weeks to change over direct debits (even to a Barclays account) and in the meantime payments got missed. A not so quick phone call always got the penalty charges credited back though, but it was hassle you don't want. It seems to be their weak point, Egg did it in a few days so never had a problem.

Well, today would be the day I got an email from Egg to say my statement was ready.

And I just got an email from Barclaycard to tell me my BC World MC statement was ready and that, "You can see the full statement by going online to mybarclaycard". The hell I can! There's just my old BC showing, same as yesterday.

Fortunately, the email does give the account balance and the due date, however.

I have sent a further message to Barclaycard, noting that it says they will reply to messages within 24 hours and that my previous message was sent over 24 hours ago.......

Checked myself today and all existing BC showing but the BC world class still not shown despite being told it would be online by today.
