Egg to Barclaycard Transition Update
Comments

This is more serious.
With Egg I was set up to pay the minimum payment by DD. Barclaycard is aware of this and has set up a new mandate on my current account.
This month, I paid off the statement balance less £5 by FP, intending that the DD would take the last £5 on the due date. That's what Egg would have done.
But evidently Barclaycard, noting that I've already paid more than the minimum, is proposing not to take the DD at all. This will mean that I will fail to pay in the full statement balance, and will therefore end up paying interest on last month's purchases (in fact they tell me how much).
Ouch."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -
I have just bookmarked the mybarclaycard account in readiness for applying to get online access to my account on Monday.
However, I note that you need to supply the credit limit in order to register for access."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. Useful info found well buried in the FAQ
"By Telephone Banking or Internet banking by Bacs - Allow 3 working days before your payment due date. Faster payments - To ensure a payment to your Barclaycard account reaches us on the same working day, submit your payment by 6.00pm if paying from a Barclays Bank account or 4.00pm if paying from another bank or building society participating in the Faster Payments scheme."
Which of course will only work if your bank or building society supports real-time FPs, not if they send them overnight.
But it does hint that 4 pm is a worst-case scenario, and if you pay between 4 and 6 there's a good chance of making the cut."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -

You need to change the standing order. The new payment details are
Sort code 200415
Account 38290008
and of course your new card number as the reference."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. I seem to have the same problem as Fruit and Nut Case. I pay by DD in full on the 26th of every month, and I can see from my bank account that all payments have been made, yet I'm also showing as having missed a minimum payment. Grrrr. Not a good start.0

My DD was taken by "Egg" this morning as it should have been, although on loggin into BC website it says that the minimum amount due is blank! Hope that the DD payment gets to the new card ok and that I don't get a late fee etc!!Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34

Has anyone ever experienced a negative influence on you credit score when giving notice to to a credit card provider?
This depends entirely on your circumstances.
If this pushed you ratio of used credt to available credit to be a very high % then you would look maxed out and this could be inferred to be a negative.
However sometimes reducing your available credit can be a positive.
So it really does depend on both the % of used credit vs available credit and the amount of available credit you have relative to your income.
I've clsoed down loads of cards - I normally close 2 or 3 accounts per year and I've not had an negative effect from being a "tart".
But it depends on income, available credit and the % you have used.
So sorry no black and white answer.0 -
Well signed up on barclaycard website with no issues!:)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Still only my old (unused, unloved) Barclaycard showing in mybarclaycard.
As mentioned earlier by gt94sss2, the 'reminder' always shows on screen while logging in. If I'd known that when I chose my reminder years ago, I might have made it a bit more obscure!0
