Egg to Barclaycard Transition Update

  • Got my card registered OK.

Anyone tried to add the new barclaycard account to the Egg Money Manager? (Can't do it myself as I am at work).
  • Checked 10 mins ago and a new barclaycard visa has appeared in mybarclaycard view. As I had requested to close this account through egg to not incur further interest hikes it is only showing very basic information. I had kinda hoped that moving to barclaycard that they would have treated this as another credit card and I would have had full use again, but alas this has not happened.

Just to add that i already have a barclaycard so this is an "additional" card that has been added to my view.

Apparently they were unable to match the details between the two cards (for some reason), so didn't think I already held a Barclaycard.
I may not buy this one.

If you had a letter last week suggesting what day you should register, then they didn't match you up.

But if your letter said "log in to mybarclaycard as usual", then presumably they were aware that you were already registered. They just haven't made it work right.

I haven't had a letter telling me about registering on a particular day ? - Just said to use mybarclaycard from 7th November onwards...

presumably the card can be used now

I believe the card can be used from 7th.
The registration process is simply for on-line access, not for activation of the card (I believe).

On mine its showing:- Failing to make your minimum payment can mean that you have broken the terms of the credit agreement and could result in us taking legal action against you. It could lead to you having to pay additional costs and make it more difficult for you to obtain credit in future.

cannot access recent transaction - gives me an error code.

Also my cashback is showing incorrectly aswel. Has anyone else showing right amount of cashback?

Same for me as the last two posts (EDIT: Before StarM's). No date, just 'log in as usual'.

I expect there will be a lot of teething problems and that the website and the phone lines will be extraordinary busy. I'm therefore not intending even registering online for a week.

My DD goes out on the 4th and the statement always shows transactions up to the 21st, so I do have time to spare.

No point wasting time and money on the phone to Barclaycard. Even you do have a DD due soon, the direct debit guarantee requires that you be notified of DD amounts X working days in advance, so Barclaycard are going to have to notify you by email or snail mail of you are not registered IMHO.

It would appear that they have failed to take account of the scenario where people already have an online account.
I don't expect everything to be perfect on day 1 but that's a fairly major oversight.
They've certainly planned for that specific scenario. Just failed to make it work in practice.

You would, even so, have thought the least they could do was to put a more helpful message on the logon page than

    "Already have a Barclaycard account?
    • If you already have a Barclaycard registered for mybarclaycard then simply log in as usual. All your accounts will be linked together and viewable under your existing ID."
It couldn't take too much effort just to change that to add, "We're working on it" or something similar.
