The email that I have received doesn't ask me to clear my balance on the 4th? I think it's been badly worded and they'll clear your balance by direct debit on the 25th as usual.

My DD date is the 3rd, moving to 13th with Barclaycard as they have a longer interest free period. So I'm assuming that the balance outstanding on Egg (bills go upto 21st or thereabouts) will transfer over to Barclaycard. Or they will take a payment on the 3rd from Egg and another one from Barclaycard on the 13th. Should amount to the same really.

Just opened an Egg savings account so as not to lose Egg Money Manager. You don't even need to make a deposit (but I did a £1 one to be safe). The whole process took about 2 mins. :)

I've used the First Direct alternative but it's not as quick and easy as EMM.

Of course with Yorkshire Building Society having taken over Egg Savings accounts at the beginning of November I presume that even this will just be a temporary fix.

The interest rate is utter rubbish but I think you win today's prize of "1 carrot' for that brilliant idea. It's a service that's definitely worth £1. :)

I had thought of doing something similar but I clicked on all the Egg tabs on the web site but they don't seem to be doing or offering anything worthwhile so I declined.

Thats a fair point. Handt considered that.

I opted out of my Egg Money card about a year ago following an attempted rate jack. I have yet to receive any information on how I will access/service my account from the 7th.

Has anyone else in a similar position received anything?

I opted out of my Egg Visa a few months ago - for the same reason as you. So far I have received 2 emails saying that from 7th November I would be able to use my Barclaycard. I didn't think I was going to get one. Still don't think I will. I have heard nothing since the end of September, and I'm concerned because I am used to making regular payments throughout the month as well as my normal DD.

You could try the accountunity thing. It's from the people that made Egg Money Manager. It's free.

I'm going to give it another go as it's been a few years since I last did. https://www.ewise.com.au/accunity/aa/home.asp?pid=accunity

Update: I see why I stuck with EMM .... this doesn't seem to let you choose which accounts it shows.....and it shows "Unread messages" as an account. A shame as you can save details on USB.

Yup I looked at that one before too, still not as quick and easy as EMM I reckon.

Spending (or at least losing access to) £1 to keep EMM forever feels like good value to me. ;)

Does the accountunity tool actually work with Windows 7 and IE9?

I've tried to get it to work but failed. I concluded it isn't compatible.

Anyhow, I just opened an Egg Savings Account and put £1 in it instead.
