Seventy million quid, and with no recliners? He'll not have paid quite that much, to be sure :p

And I don't think so many people will be paying extra fees come the end of the month, do you Bob? All they'll have to do is choose a different national Ryanair homepage from the dropdown list at top right of the default frontpage before they book with their old Mastercard prepaid, eh?

I'm sure MOL reads MSE so Martin will have inspired him to ask for a discount :money:

It's looking that way so I agree that wait and see is the name of the game for now, anyway my winter flights are all booked in much warmer places
Maybe he'll change the wording around on the non-English sites to make it difficult for English-only speakers.

Including the Irish site? I don't think that'll go down well.

Actually I believe it is quite obvious how Ryanair plan to implement this - their press release says "All other UK MasterCard Prepaid cards will be subject to a £6 admin fee from 1st Nov next."

What is meant by a UK Mastercard Prepaid card ?

As so many Mastercard Prepaids possessed by UK residents are also available to international residents then the only way they can discriminate on the website is by Billing Address.

My "Billing Address" no longer says UK :p

...and IP address and the first four letters of the card number.

    You're counting your chickens 2sides2.

Some of the Mastercard prepaids are for an international audience, Richard (for example go HERE to check out the link immediately above the fees table that says CLIQUEZ ICI POUR APPRENDRE COMMENT EVITER DE PAYER DES FRAIS OPTIONNELS - CLICK HERE TO SEE HOW TO AVOID PAYING OPTIONAL FEES*).

Mais OUI ! C'est none other than our old ami Neteller UK Limited qui est le only carte qui est directly recommended avec un joli link à Neteller dans les FR og Ryanair Ts and Cs.

That rules out using the card number to discriminate or the French will soon get upset! And I have already said that all Ryanair can do with the IP Address is to direct you "helpfully" and hopefully to their preferred Ryanair startpoint for someone residing at that IP address. That Ryanair 'wishful thought' can be circumvented by using the national dropdown box.

They can't use the IP address to hard-discriminate on charging fees - there has to be a logical structure to the booking process and if the links from the section of the site the customer has chosen to use has links to the version of Ts and Cs which states no admin fee for Mastercard Prepaid then that is how it must be. Not even Ryanair would dare contravene their own Ts and Cs :p

*It is interesting to see that the English version of the fees page currently has a bad link under a subheading which says CLICK HERE TO SEE HOW TO AVOID PAYING OPTIONAL FEES and it is further interesting to note that with a bit of intuitive correction of the bad link, there is in fact a discriminatory page in English to be found here which offers further links for UK Residents who get one choice only (Ryanair Cashpassport) and Non-UK Residents who get to pick from any number of Mastercard prepaids.

I imagine they might still be toying with the legal niceties of that kind of deliberate detriment intended for the citizens of just one particular nation within the EU.

What a pickle they have created for themselves :p

    Well spotted!

I already have two of the cards that link mentions, Kalixa and FairFX (€). I suspect that as I obtained them using my UK address, the Ryanair monster would assess UK surcharges. However, the smell of an application using my alternate (non-UK) address is wafting my way. :)

Its not just cardf Fees that are different BTW. The French site gives you the option to change your booking, name or flight for a mere 15 Euro http://www.ryanair.com/fr/termes-et-conditions#regulations-tableoffees compared to our £100

  • I think that could be the "uncheck" fee which is £15 in uk

I disagree Richard. They could still make money and be "nice"
In fact they would probably make more.
Easyjet's lowest fares are over twice Ryanairs lowest but still they have a bigger UK market share than Ryanair because most people think that they and Stelios (even though he is no longer with them) are "nice"

Its disappointing the venom "Ryanair" create because overall their service and prices are EXCELLENT. Its their arrogance that create so many problems

I'm sorry but they are a commercial business, and they are never going to be your best mate. They don't have to be "nice" they just have to make money for shareholders, and they are doing a good job at that.
