Just got confirmation from my bank Co-op) that I have been re-funded. The first payment came out on Dec 28 and the 2nd 2 weeks later. Followed the advice on here and phoned , emailed and threatened legal action. At first they refused but after 3 emails mentioning the fraud dept at my bank, they agreed. It is well worth persisting with and not accepting anything less than a full refund.
Thanks to all those whose advice I followedDon't let the past become your future

:jMany thanks for the advice, I have emailed with the threat of Trading Standards and Legal representation and prepared a letter threatening legal action. Luckily I hadn't used the product but fingers crossed. I have certainly learnt my lesson, there is no such thing as a free lunch would rather do without in future. Poundland usually do a decent deal without the hassel. Hope i am lucky.uselessaver wrote: »Antonine; I have googled '0808 numbers'; as far as I can see, they are freephone, but the usual caveat applies if you use a mobile. Like so many others I, too, have been caught out by this scam (I couldn't see any reference to Terms and Conditions when I applied, so foolishly continued the process), but I was fortunate to have used my credit card, not a debit card - MBNA were very helpful and calm (anyone else caught out, do check out the messages from the MBNA rep and contact them for reassurance, but be aware you may have to accept the initial hit of approx £154 unless the company contact reacts by offering an immediate refund). You do have to wait a while for any answer from the provided number, and have to wait longer again to be transferred to an English-speaker. For me the connection was not a good one and the contact took ages to get my name right, which hardly improved my temper. However, I was surprised to gain promises of cancellations and refunds for both products and have since received e-mails confirming these, having insisted on having such confirmation in writing. As others have said, be persistent; mentioning legality (or otherwise) worked for me. I do agree with others that phoning the company to cancel your contract is vital - it's comparatively quick, compared to e-mailing and waiting hopefully for a reply and so much faster than the post. One thing; at the time I hadn't read any of the above forum messages, so didn't ask for a cancellation code of my contract (you will have two, one for each product) and although I received these in the e-mails that followed it may be a good idea to get them direct from your contact so you have some port of call if you need to contact them again - I suspect I was further aided by my insisting the contact gave me their full name and employee ID number, which they found rather daunting as it implied I would definitely be following the call up if there were any problems.
I haven't received my actual refunds yet, but it's only been a couple of days.
I don't know if this helps, but wish you luck.0 -
Hi Martin Lewis
Any chance of some publicity on this one to ensure this scam stops as looking at your forum it has being going on for some time. I would imagine the majority of those who applied are innocent hard working ladies like myself who in times of recession can barely afford a £5 face cream, if we had £160 to spare we would never have been on any of these websites in the first place!
Thanking you in advance.0 -

I just found out my son has fallen for this.
We have cancelled his debit card and informed the bank.
After bombarding them with emails we finally got a reply saying they have cancelled and a refund of £74.95 and £51 will be provided inthe next few days.
Whilst we are happy to be getting a partial refund (they took 4 times these amounts) we are wondering if this will be able to go through as the card number they have is cancelled. Does anyone know please?
We have of course replied to them saying this is not good enough and we want a FULL refund by cheque or postal order.
Interestingly they have not asked for the products back!
I would like to thank all posters on this thread - we would not have known what to do without your help and advice.0 -
I cancelled my card, it being a debit card, and the money did go back into my bank account. I did ring and check with my bank that it would. I was too worried about them taking anymore money in the meantime to not cancel it.
They've not asked me to return the so-called "trial" products either, and have even said in the email confirming refund and cancellation that they will re-send their "trial" pack - I've told them I don't want them to.0 -
