Halifax PPI redress Payments

What is the oldest mortgage that anyone has managed to claim ppi from???
I have just claimed for my 1st mortgage from 1986-1992
So far I have claimed...
£5900.... Made a ppi claim. Told by Halifax that when the 1st mortgage finished the continued ppi policy should have been changed to reflect the current mortgage roll number (and wasnt)...
So they have refunded all the payments from when the first mortgage ended in 1992 to 2000 (new mortgage deal in 2000).... Wierd.... But nice....
Also a claim for ppi from 2000 till now has been upheld.... just waiting for calculations.

It will be interesting to see whether they will pay out for the 1st mortgage
Has anyone had a similarly old 1st mortgage PPI claim upheld?0 -

My parents have successfully had a claim upheld from around the 80s/early 90s. It was a little complicated though.
When they put in a claim in May, the woman in the Halifax said 'but we don't sell those policies' ....''oh yes you flippin did, they sold it to me when this branch first opened'':rotfl:''But we only sell our own product''....''maybe not now, but they did long ago, and after it was sold, the person who did it, was never seen again''
The lass probably hadn't even been thought of either!!!
They are still waiting for calculations, and they put in for it, around the same time as I did in May, so shouldn't be long now.0 -
It all depends on whether compounding applies to your card or not, it is not an automatic right.
Some credit card companies say that when you made your monthly payments they were allocated in a certain order and that the PPI was the first thing you paid off each month and so there was never any compounded interest attached to PPI premiums, only the interest for the month it was incurred.
Whether they are telling the truth of course is a different matter but that is what they will claim if you challenge them about compound interest. Without all of your statements it would be very difficult to prove them wrong unfortunately.
I spoke to my claims handler today and she said that they 'rebuild' each statement without PPI and if the balance isn't cleared then you get the APR for the following month and so on.
So basically, I think they do pay compound interest where applicable.
I received a call today to say that my card calculations are now complete, so hopefully it will be more than stated previously.
She will be calling me tomorrow to tell me the figures for my card and my loan.
So fingers crossedI'm a secret crime fighter0 -

Just called Halifax, as they've had my acceptance for a few weeks now. Unfortunately, the notes on my account only show that the claim is with the redress department. The girl, who was very apologetic, could only say that I should hear something within the next couple of weeks. That'll be 6 weeks from the receipt of my acceptance, so I should hope so...~cherie0

If its anything to go by, notes on screens showing its in a redress dept doesn't show much at all. I was told last Friday by someone who'd had my email passed on from the CEO, that there was no news, and she would contact me when she had calculations and relevant info.....30th Sept.
So why was the cheque I got yesterday dated 29th Sept...the day before!!!!!
She never got back to me either.
No more cheques today.0 -
patience is finally running out. Got oh to phone up today, again! Only the second call since claim went in in may. As we returned our acceptance at the same time as others in this thread who have received payment this week we are getting really impatient. Got nowhere with phonecall. Basically said cant give any timescale for payment, usual story, they are working on it, overtime, weekends yada yada yada. Great if you're working so hard then where's our money.:mad::mad:Mary B0

I decided to be a little cheeky and see if Halifax would pay back the PPI for a loan I took out in December 1999 paid off in January 2003.
I completed their complaint form and posted it off. The next day I received a call from them to confirm the details and the lady from Halifax noted that the loan was a top-up to another loan I took out in 1997. She told me they would look at both loans.
About a week later I received 4 letters from them. Two of the letters were about the loan from 1997 and two about the loan from 1999. All four stated they were investigating the claims and I would hear back from them within 16 weeks.
I believe they are supposed to deal with complaints within 8 weeks but knowing they would (hopefully) have a huge backlog I felt I should be fair and allow them the 16 weeks.
Well the 16 weeks expired on Thursday (6th October 2011). Knowing our postal system can be, at times, a little slow I again played the nice guy and decided to give them until Monday (10th October).
However, yesterday I received two letters and to my amazement both letters contained a cheque for repayment of PPI.
The outcome!!!
Loan 1: taken out in August 1995 for £5,000 - repayment of PPI - £2,179.78
Loan 2: taken out in December 1999 for £10,000 - repayment of PPI - £3,698.63
Total PPI repayment - £5,878.41
The interesting part to this story, both loans had been paid off more than 7 years ago. I simply explained that it was my belief that I had 7 years from the time I became aware they had mis-sold the PPI and that was only after the recent judicial ruling. So it's well worth looking at those older loans. You have nothing to lose in doing so.
I also, in fairness, must say Halifax were incredibly fair, paid out exactly what I believe to be a fair payment and it was they who included the first loan I took out.0
