most of these posts are ringing so true for me :D

on the subject of forgetting words, my friends DD asked her have you seen my sweatshirt mum? yes, she said...its errrr its errrr ummmm... in that little warm place at the top of the stairs, ahhhh said her DD you mean the airing cupboard :rotfl::rotfl:

My nan used to go through all the names of her grandkids before she got to the one she meant, I often got called Steven or Peter.

At work loads of times I pick the ringing phone up and can't remember what I should say, I have even answered it saying good morning....followed by the name of the firm I worked for when I was 16!

I like the idea that the mind is like a filling cabinet, I tend to think of mine as being like a pc that has a limited amount of space, when I get more information disk is full so it overwrites things. Well thats my excuse ;)

Wouldn't you have you remember what you've done with the current MOT certificate, then?
Yes, but next time you get a new one, and particularly when aj gets her new one, she can peel that sticker off. I never knew it was there! And I'm not convinced I'd look at the windscreen at the right time, but there you go ...

I got the train to work this morning, and started walking the wrong way when I got off. No idea WHERE I was going!

I went into Tesco the other day and had no idea where the door to get out again was. :D I walked towards where I thought it was then stopped because I thought I was going in the wrong direction.

I then did that 'I'm just going to stand here and make it look like I've forgotten something and I'm trying to remember what it was' thing, whilst carrying on surreptitiously looking for the door. :o:rotfl:

My boss had to remind me all the stuff I'd chosen for breakfast I can't have.....

Haha what on earth had you chosen?! A whole breakfast you couldn't have? I have to know what was in it lol

Most things are OK in moderation you know :p

  • I frequently call out the wrong child/dog's name but since my mother has called me by her sister's name all my life I'm blaming her for that one. (The best bit is she never even lived with her sister, Mum was married with a child (my eldest brother) when Aunt was born) Neither brother ever gets called anything other than the right name though, must be me causing it?:rotfl:

Forgetting words is getting more common by the day but I'm blaming that, and my inability to remember appointments without a phone alarm, on my MS. I am getting much better at dancing around the word close enough for my family to guess what I'm on about and enough to make strangers think I'm just a little eccentric ;) It does get frustrating though when I end up buying a chicken from the butchers instead of the steak I wanted because I couldn't find the right word in time:o

Love "dancing around the word" - I do this all the time :D My local butcher now treats my visit as an amusing game. I go in and say "Can I have some.......(long pause, raise eyebrows, large eyes, look blank).... thingy.....you know....?". He then goes through the list of stuff I may want - chicken, beef, steak etc. When he hits the right one, I then shout "YES! Thanks the one"! I tell him it's to test his (hang on while I think of the right word) .....(what is it?).......ESP (is that right??) (I seriously can't think of the right word! Sorry!)

That's it - I give up. I thought i'd continue cleaning the bathroom and I've just realised I've gone all around the rim of the bath with toilet cleaner  and no, I don't use it as a toilet!

And now I can't find where I've put the bathroom scrubby thing (whatever it's called) - I've only just had it! Is there a smiley for the word Aaaarrrgghhh?

 might do the job? Or  plus ?

I came on to say DISASTER! I use my phone as an alarm clock, and when I switched it on yesterday, the screen's gone doolally, just scrolling lines! I spent a day not knowing why the alarms were going off, and I couldn't phone anyone or use texts at all, was dependent on people phoning me!

Fortunately DH had a spare, because he's experimenting with a Blackberry (which neither of us like), and I've managed to copy his contacts and calendar off that and onto my netbook, and then copy my contacts and calendar off mine onto my netbook, BUT I can't copy mine to his phone before we've checked that he can get the contacts and calendar onto his BB.

So atm, I can only contact people who are on HIS phone, and he stores his by surname, so I can't find half of them, AND when I want to phone HIM I have to find 'ME'!

    No wonder I'm confused ...

My short term memory is awful, it's getting worse! Today I used my credit card for the first time in ages so kept repeating the pin in my head..then later I used my debit card and my mind was blank as to what the pin was for that, although I use it most days.

My nan did the whole go through everyone's name in the family before getting to mine thing and now I do it all the time with my children and I'm in my 20's ! :D
