My Mum used to go through everyone's name before she got to mine -- it wouldn't have bothered me but I'm the only girl!!! I often end up saying "Whatever your name is!"

Ach i wouldn't worry about it, i'm only 27 and have regular hospital appointments, only problem is if i don't write them on the calendar i forget them! When i had my radiotherapy & chemo my Mum litterally had the times marked on every calendar in the house so i'd remember - i'm useless when it comes to remembering stuff like that though! It's a bit of a standing joke that when i get my appointments in Mum will litterally take the letter off me, although i'm trusted with my radiologist's appointment card mostly since i have it pinned on my "notice board" on the back of my bedroom door and it only ever comes off that when i'm on my way to the hospital!

I might not have cancer no more, but i doubt they'll be able to cure my forgetful nature, don't even get me started on the lengths the family go to over reminding me of birthdays!

Nope, not just you. My elder niece used to get called by the dog's name, elder and younger niece get called by each other's names and so on.

I think my best one though was turning up for a dental appointment a day late, even though I'd been phoned the day before to remind me:(. I now use the calendar in work's email to remind me the day before, and the calendar on my phone to remind me on the day.

And yes, Alzheimer's in the family here too!

Babybrain......most definately, unfortunately it didn't get any better after having DD so has got doubly worse since having DS!! :D

My mum had 5 so she tends to go through all our names before getting the right one, it has been made worse by us getting married/having partners they are all included now too....oh and so are the grandchildren, by the time she gets the right name she has forgotten what she was going to say LOL!!!

Now, when the kids are all in the same room and I'm going through the list of names, before I even get to the end of the list, they all chorus "whoever you are" (our version of "whatever your name is") at full volume! It sometimes sounds quite musical!

Yes, the dogs get included in the list of kids name - although the kids did look quite concerned when once, on the school run, I said (in my best Barbara Woodhouse voice) HEEL! Strange thing is, it worked - but I did get some strange looks from parents/kids around me. Never worked since. :rotfl:

I now pick up sis's DS from school - but today wasn't so good - only the 2nd day back at school, and I forget  and until I got a phone call hadn't the foggiest:shocked:

Now then, what day was it again? Where's my glasses? Have I got a cuppa somewhere? Did I lock the car? What's my name again???

I laughed at this - even though my beloved nan and my aunt had Alzhiemers. my mum often goes through a list of names before she gets the right one - once she starts we all chime in with Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb! mainly because she gets Huw and Lew mixed up! She even called my daughter by my sisters dogs name more than once (cos it rhymed?). I do the same with Grandsons - I call the youngest by the oldests name!
funny thing is I DONT call the identical twins by each others name - yet I do with the non-identicals!

My three children used to get cross that I could never remember their names, so one morning I came downstairs and found them wearing name labels that my daughter (I think she was about eight at the time) had made. Not sure who was more insulted by it all!

Obviously I used the excuse of "I've had brain surgery!" for any forgetfulness for so long that the boys thought I was just milking it, but I've now added to it "I've had shoulder surgery!" Because you know I'm SURE there were some memory cells in the chunk of arm they've removed! :rotfl:
