  • I haven't tried this one yet but the picture in the book looks great (marks and spencers chocolate cookbook)

    chocolate banana loaf

    115 g softened butter
    200g soft brown sugar
    2 eggs
    3 bananas, peeled and mashed
    225 plain flour
    1 tsp bicarb
1 tabs cocoa (not drinking choc)
    1 tsp mixed spice
    125 mls thick natural yog
    85g choc chips

    oven 180/350/gas 4
    grease a 23 x 13 x 7.5 cm loaf tin

in a big bowl beat butter, sugar and eggs. Add bananas, stir well.
sift all the dry ingredients into another bowl then add to banana mixture and mix well.
    add yogurt and choc chips
spoon into tin, bake for 1 hour or so - test with a cocktail stick to check for doneness.

just use yog in place of milk, same quantity.
or just blob it in till it looks OK.
it makes a nice squashy scone dough, and lovely with cheese scones.

There should be an easy yoghurt cake recipe in the index which I posted last year. I'll see if I can find it for you :)

Hmmm I can't seem to find it at mo, sorry, maybe Squeaky knows where it is if he spots this thread.

It is that what you do, good or bad,
will come back to you three times as strong!

  • 1 carton yoghurt
    1 1/2 cartons sugar
    1 carton vegetable oil
    1 carton self raising flour
    3 eggs

Mix all ingredients together really well. pour into lined cake tin and bake at 180oc - 190oc for 40 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.

The yoghurt tub is an easy way to measure for this cake. what ever size or tub you use is tha standard for ALL the ingredients. If using a large tube, you may need to add an extra egg.

If you can't find one in the index, switch to the thread, then search on your required ingredient in the simple search this thread box. That'll list all the recipes with your ingredient in.

    :)
