Jeez - I take it all back, I was lucky. Although my internet is now soooo slow it is a joke. Would you really go back to BT??0

we had the reverse problems, the broadband started off slooooooooooooooooowing down then the phone line went. To be honest never really had an issue with TalkTalk before but then again never had any problems before. The way the help was non existent was shocking. Was with BT before but doubt if i would go back there looking at Sky as we speakSave 12k in 2020 #19 £12,429.06/£14,0000

i joined talk talk towards the end of november 2010 thinking it was a great deal! i was told i would recieved free broadband, unlimited calls in the day and evening throu week & weekend!! i thought it would be great to save some money a month!
first of all everything was fine - few weeks into the service i lost internet connection, this seemed to happen every few weeks! i then recieved my first bill which was over the amount i was told it would be each month - when i asked about this i was told it was down to using the phone in peak times - but i was told when i first took out the service that i had unlimited allday! so how am i charged?
we now in the start of january and its the 6th time ive had problems connecting to the internet.
i have told them im not happy with this as i had a great service with bt and surprise surprise ive had no reply!
if i end the contract now ill recieve the fee which is unfair as i was misold the product and have problems connecting. i will never use this company again - bt may b high each month but at least u get what u pay for!!0 -
What a nightmare this was for us. We are now going through Otelo to sort it out and have been told that as we had 'FREE' wireless broadband and 'FREE' calls within our package, then talk talk were not obliged to provide them at all as we werent actually paying for them!. We have spent more time without broadband and telephone access over the past 15 months than with it. They even had the cheek to try and bill me for leaving early without fullfilling my contract term! The story continues! For all those who are still suffering, contact Otelo and highlight your complaint.0

Can anyone help/ give me some advice please as I am a bit of a numpty about this sort of stuff.
My internet in the evening is shocking, it's either average, soooooo slow it drives me crazy or it keeps dropping when I am in the middle doing something as simple as looking at this site or an email. (The other night it dropeed 4 times within an hour about 5 ish pm) I don't even tempt fate by looking at You tube because it would be painful. The internet is better in the morning though. When it totally drops (adsl flashing ) I turn off the modem and start again??
Anyway I emailed talktalk and phoned them. They said there is nothing wrong and are sending an engineer on Tuesday which will cost me obviously. There was a problem around Xmas when I has no phone or internet for 3 days and the engineers 'fixed' it.
Do I let the engineer come which will cost me who knows..
Do I buy a new modem myself?
Is there something I can do myself and cancel the engineer?
Gosh I am sorry - I realise I sound really dopey. I use computers and the internet happily without understanding or knowing how the magic happens lol
Thanks0 -
I've been with TalkTalk for nearly three years.
I'm now out of contract and on a rolling contract month to month which means I can bail out whenever with no penalty or exit fee to pay.
However, I'm extremely happy with the service and I have had only minor issues in the time I've been with them all of which were quickly sorted using the talktalk members forum (telephone support is, or at least was, rubbish). I get free anytime local calls which are the majority of calls I make & free evening & weekend national calls + brodadband all for about £20 a month.
On my PC I get a consistant 14meg connection speed on my notebook I get about a 7meg connection speed (because I restricted my wireless modem due to dropoouts) which I'm more than happy with.
I haven't seen much offered elsewhere so far that would tempt me to change supplier.0 -
@Td-eye
My experience is similar to yours. originally with Tiscali, now Talk Talk. Only had minor issues in 2 years+ which I sorted myself (I agree the overseas telephone support is very poor). I'm on the 'Essentials' package (free eve & weekend calls) and spotted on TT website that there was a special half-price offer for new customers. So called them and they matched the price (but had to take a 12 month contract).
My BB speed has actually increased recently too - from around 4MB to 6+ which was a bonus. (using the BT checker, this is about as fast as I could expect from anyone)
If you're happy with TT, might be worth calling them?0 -

Totally agree with all your comments. I have had no major problems with TalkTalk. Their only problem is their telephone 'support'. It is a call centre in another country where it is difficult to make yourself understood and even more difficult to understand what is being said to you! Far better to raise any problems on their forum. You get responses in plain English!0 -
Been with talktalk for 3 years + now , and i am also on a rolling monthly contract and I also have with a monthly " loyalty discount" applied to my account, so while the service i recieve is reliable and costs are good , why move ??? !!
Talktalk forum is very helpful also ,0 -
Same here, I've been with them for 4 years, Talk 3 package and rolling contract but I'm getting up to 6 calls a day from them, which I'm ignoring because I don't want to be put on another 18month contract. Not sure whether to return to BT or stick it out as TT usually stop calling after a few weeks.0
