New Talktalk poll; feedback needed, good and bad

I never applied for Talk Talk broadband, but die express interest last year when I switched my phoneline. They've however taken it upon themselves in the past 2 weeks to give me broadband as well, and in a very underhanded way went off to the phone centre and swapped the cables - leaving me without internet connection! They then sent me a letter letting me know they'd done this, with a disk to install for connection - no joy. All my numbers for making cheap calls have also been disconnected without my consent - all so very illegal to me, but I've no resources to fight them, and I'm so going back to BT. So long talktalk, they might be cheap, but there's no peace of mind with them whatsoever. Not worth it in my opinion.0

As a happy TalkTalk customer since August 2006, my exchange gets the "Local Loop Unbundling" treatment on March 29th, 2007.
Hopefully this should bring no change in Service, and hopefully slightly faster Broadband. Even though the 2Mbs that I currently have is perfectly adequate for the use my PC receives.
I'll let you know how I get on, but two other family members have been through TalkTalk "LLU" so far, and their experiences have been painless, except for a slightly "european ring" on their phones when they are called for 24 hours after the switchover. I guess that's while the new equipment has it's settings tweaked to meet the requirements of the end user.0 -
I have never had (and never will) anything to do with Carphone Warehouse but thought you all might be interested in one customer's experiences. It's not about Talk Talk broadband or landline, it's about their general level (joke word) of service (2nd joke word):
http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=2407663456841645458Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -
We signed up with Broadband a bit after the initial rush, and it took a while for things to be processed. Once we were up and running, we had no real dramas with either broadband or the phone line. HOWEVER, on the 18th January, TalkTalk did some 'upgrade' in our area and since then I have had regular problems with the internet dropping out throughout the day. It's a bit annoying, but I can usually get it sorted fairly quickly and - so far - it hasn't affected my work.
The one thing I am REALLY annoyed about is that since the 'upgrade' I am no longer able to use the 18185 override code so ALL calls must go through the TalkTalk line which is much more expensive than the 18185 option. A friend of mine has had the same experience. She phoned TalkTalk and they said there was no block on the phone, it must be a 18185 problem - which I seriously doubt. We'll call them in the next week and try to sort it out - probably won't have much joy given the not-too-good customer service which exists.
Has anyone else had this problem with using an override code? If so, have you been able to sort it out (and how did it get sorted)?
Yeah this has happened to me as well with an upgrade,
I'll have to dial 08081703703 to get 18185 instead, mind you as part of the upgrade I've jumped from 1.1Mbs to 1.7-1.9 Mbs on my broadband so I can't really complain.Titch0 -

Well the LLU has happened, and I've survived. 8Mb Broadband is now available and appears stable. The only other noticable changes are the voice prompts for "1471" and "1571" have now changed to a new voice.
So there you go.... Still a happy TalkTalk customer! :j0 -
Well im glad it worked for you as I have not been able to have any broadband since I went live in Feb.
The Customer service is dreadfull in my experiance.Four times i tryed on the weekend to get any sense from anyone and failed each time.
I was kept on the phone for so long that the auto cutoff came in.
So now I have gone back to Orange at half the price. So that was a bonus.
I would not recommend anyone to go to talktalk.0 -
I changed with talk talk about 5 years ago and havent had no problems since 4 wks ago since they upgraded the internet Mbps.Since they have done this i have not got caller display at all,and im paying for this, the ringing tone was completly differant,it was a long tone and if you didnt get to the phone quick it would stop and the person calling would be cut off,im experiencing no ringing tone now and again and the worse off all alot off the people i call or they call me i cant understand what they are saying as they sound like they are gurggling and the conversation gets cut out in bits.I have had these problems for 4 wks now,you ring talk talk about this and all they say its will be sorted out in 48 hrs well im still waiting.I now phone them about every 3 days and they always say the same thing, they are waiting for the engineers report tothe faults well how long does this take 4 wks i dont think so,i also email them but dont get no reply.I would never recomment tlk talk to anyone, they are a disgrace and shouldnt treat there customers like this.Won 2010: Butlins 5 day Break and £250, 1 yr Virgin Active membership, Meal for 10 at Best Parties Ever, skyline 2011 dvd.

By the looks of some posts here it looks as if i have been one of the lucky ones.
I signed up to land line and free broardband in August last year and was connected just 3 weeks later. Had a little trouble to start with in installing software for modem and security, but with a little help from a friend we got it sorted.
Only just started to have a problem recently as internet keeps disconnecting, but this has only just started to happen since they upgraded line speed 2 two weeks from 2mb to a nice 6.8mb. Trouble is the segem modem they supplied me with can only handle speeds of 2mb so they are sending me a new modem free of charge.
The only thing i really dont like is the fact that if THIER product goes wrong I am the one who has to pay 10p per min for technical advice.
but apart from that as i say i must be one of the lucky ones.:TNot just a white vanman:cool:
