With scraped knuckles, a limp and abrasions to my face and nose it's no wonder that nobody at work has asked me what happened. No need for Tylenol tonight as it's a wine night - spending was necessary today as both my daughter and my car had run out of juice and neither Vimto nor Diesel come cheap these days. There will be no running til my tracksuit trousers arrive and my knees heal up. Next week I am off work so will make up for it.
  • Mr B,

I have spent the last 2 or 3 nights reading your diary, during the night feeds hence it taking so long!! What a journey you have already made in a short time.

I would suggest getting some figures in your signature. Its nice to see them dropping especially as you post regularly and it certainly helps with the motivation.

You are doing a sterling job with the debts, weight loss, ebay (even though you don't believe it :)) and life changes. Already you are conscious of coupons. I find it far better to make gradual changes as drastic ones don't stick, much like a crash diet - the second you start eating again the weight goes back on and then some.

Your writing style is compelling and I found myself putting my daughter back to bed but continuing to read for a short time not wanting to "put it down".

When my husband and I started we were both still paying debts from previous relationships. Mine was far less serious and it just dripped from the account monthly whereas he was really up to his eyeballs and embarked on a DMP. I had my LBM far quicker than he did but once I showed him the figures in black and white, provided him with a debt free date and basically made it clear how long he would be paying off his ex-wife's bills he shone like a 60W bayonet bulb. He worked all the hours god sent and managed to pay everything in double quick time. Now we are further on in our journey and he has managed a career change and we are well on the way to saving our deposit for our first house.

Everything takes time, even ebay, but the rewards you get are amazing and so worth it!!

Another runless morning but at least the pain has gone and the scabs are forming nicely. Weight ballooned up to 22-08 but I really can't get too stressed about it - trying to dodge the knives at work and keeping sane are filling up all my time. Darker days than usual.
  • Don't like the sound of the work stress, chin up Mr B...I actually thought of you when I was trawling through the sale rail at Primarni in Blackpool (yes I really am that classy lol)... they had tight lurexy running vests, a bargain at a pound each. I couldn't persuade OH that he could pull off that particular look tho :(

Yep, I can definitely confirm that sanity is more important than anything else, except breathing. Keep going till your holiday starts, then you can catch up on yourself, in all senses.

  • Chin up Mr B.
I'm pretty much at the start of my journey too and I'm probably a bit all or nothing which I think you might be also.
You've taken a lot on. A week off and a nice rest on the horizon then?
Loads of time with the kids and a few bottles of red? Happy thoughts Mr B, stay motivated.
Thank you for your diary, when I'm a bit down I turn to you for a relied upon chuckle. Hope things improve with the arrival of the go faster striped tratty bottoms.
