The answer to "what could be worse than running in dirty shorts?" turned out to be quite complex - running in wet shorts on a cold morning was certainly worse, running in wet shorts where the elastic/drawstring appears to have lost its purpose and you spend all the time worrying the shorts are going to fall down is considerably worse, and running in wet falling down shorts and tripping over the pavement landing headfirst and having to then walk the remaining kilometre home with bleeding knees, hands and a sore nose is absolutely worse.

We've all done it Mr B, maybe not quite in your style.....

Gone out in wet clothing - tick
Ran in leggings with rubbish elastic - tick
Tripping over the pavement / the one large stone on the beach - tick to both.

....and maybe not all on the same day.

Add to 'lock yourself out of the car the first day you are running with a new person' - tick.
Trip up in the town centre with both hands in your pockets and not be able to get them out in time - tick.

...and you can see you are not the only embarrassing person at large.

    B x

p.s. Maybe the family budget can stretch to a couple of extra pairs of shorts?

The battered bloodied bruised Bloater is home - it was just one of those days at work where nothing went right and everything took twice as long. Am going to have to mainline the Tylenol if I hope to be out running tomorrow morning. On the bright side, another NSD for the collection.

However, it is one more mental block out of the way, just leaving one big one left now - but that's a whole Pandora's box that needs to be kept nailed shut.

    Dear Mr B,

It,s worth remembering that the thing that's left in Pandora's box after all the bad things have flown out is not the toffee penny, but Hope.

You'll get there bit by bit, as the last month or two's progress more than demonstrates! :A

Missed a few days and have just caught up (you didn't think I could bear to skip to the end, did you?)

Mr B, when they make a film of your life, that run will be an iconic moment: the actor playing you comes struggling through the monochrome rainswept twilit city; shadowy figures behind him hint at the darker side of these ordinary streets, a solitary car sends a tidal wave of muddy water exclusively over our hero... he pitches forward... but he gets up, he limps onwards, and at that moment of determination the audience is caught up in a wave of mingled admiration and sympathy.

Who would you like to play you? There will be a happy ending of course, along the lines of Mrs B arranging the running trophies on the mantelpiece while Mr B, a tanned, toned figure surrounded by adoring and adorable children, sits out in the summer sun reading a healthy bank statement while tucking into pizza and a bottle of red.

Don't worry about bids on Ebay by the way - as has been said before, serious bidders usually wait till the last few seconds if there's likely to be competition. Then it all goes mad.

Have bitten the bullet and bought (online) a pair of tracksuit trousers - proper ones with the three stripes and everything - am tired of going out running looking like someone who isn't usually allowed to dress themselves having been let loose in a charity shop - no more billowing marquee sized t-shirts, wet swim shorts, socks that tend to be either from Miss Next or else blue thermal Canadian beasts, and my only redeeming feature - a decent pair of trainers that unfortunately have a stench of the rotting corpse about them. A new slicker more corporate Mr Bloater will emerge from the chaos of the fall. Or something.
And that damned pen has gone walkies again.

Could be an alien, it could be .... so might any of us, mind, including MrB :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

And hurray to new running kit! As you lose weight, you do need to buy stuff on the way, before you're at your optimum weight - there's a few people on here who've had to do that, including a friend who lost 80lbs last year. It can be done!

Oh gosh, is that how you see/read Mr and Mrs B too!!!!

Mr B, been meaning to say, I know this is your dirty secret, but you must show Mrs B that post about her being one of your 'highs'. I positively melted at that so goodness knows what she'll do :D

Ouch ouch - hope you have recovered from the running injuries

Echo everyone else the bidding on your items will ramp up as the auctions ends - & yes I agree listing on ebay is soul destroying.

Its sounds as if you have 2 young children similar ages to mine - have you started planned for the festive period - for me its when the tempation to hit the plastic is at its worse?

Enjoy the new running togs am sure they will give added spring in your step....

Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.
