Time for me to assess where I am and where it goes from here.

    a) Job 1
Obviously going brilliantly at the moment - permanent contract and enhanced money from September. Just have to remember to not get complacent and keep my CV up-to-date in case the unforeseen happens.

    b) Job 1a
Have been given the opportunity to develop an after-hours course which would bring in some extra money for me - pondering whether to start it now or wait til after the summer holidays.

    c) Job 2
Have to complete some online training this week and then all systems go for some busy evenings homeworking in June. Get a bonus for early completion and potentially more work thrown my way so the incentive is there to do a good job and get it done quickly.

    d) Job 3
Have made it through the recruitment stages so am now on a list if any more markers are needed - as it is around the same time as Job 2 I am not too concerned if I don't get the call.

    e) Ebay / FB / Bootfair etc
Have a load of stuff photographed and ready to be listed on the next free weekend (this weekend is too busy) - for the unsold stuff I will try one or two hits on FB and then bootfair / charityshop the rest of it. The plan has to be to rid of the majority of the stuff by the end of August.

    f) Fitness
Managed to get another 2.2km done this morning - if I can get 10km done a week I will be happy.

    g) MoneySaving
Getting the weekly spend down on the groceries recently, severely reduced alcohol intake, and reducing comfort eating is helping balance the books.

    h) Writing
Website and kindle products mothballed - need to have a serious rethink about approach / feasibility of this angle.

    i) Randoms
Awaiting outcome of appeal to Ombudsman regarding refused PPI claim

So all in all things are in a pretty good place right now but I have to remember that everything can change at the drop of a hat so the wider I can spread the risks then the greater the chance of the safety net being able to withstand my weight if things do fall apart again.

You do realise you've paid off almost 40k in well under 2 years Mr B? That's superb :T.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Just tried on a pair of jeans I haven't been able to wear for about 4 years. Am still too bloated for them, but found a tenner in the pocket. It's been that kind of week! Here's hoping everyone has some good fortune soon.
  • Love today's Big List Mr Bloater - a great positive plan :) looks like you're doing a great job

Shame it's now only worth about 8 quid by today's prices! :rotfl:Still, I wouldn't grumble but I'm too tight to lose £10 in the first place!

Excellent list - your positivity is shining through - long may it last. :j

It's a good thing I tan easily because without the all the rays I've been catching in the evenings on the patio I was a complete doppelganger for Robert Smith out of The Cure (in his current large state) whilst out doing my 3.2km plod this morning. Especially if he had been rumbled shoplifting at Millets and was making a low-speed escape.

So the hair has to go. And the fleece.

Am cursing myself cos I took my eye off one of the cards and a £12 overlimit fee got incurred - nobody's fault but my own, but that's £12 that could have gone on to something else.

Other than that, not much to report - looking forward to a weekend of gardening and keeping fingers crossed for victories for Peterborough, Bolton and Forest today. This would knock Crystal Palace out of the play-offs and would certainly catapult today into my all time top 3 sporting moments (alongside Cantona's kung-fu kick at Selhurst Park and the 9-0 drubbing of Palace by Liverpool).

Hi Mr B. If you normally manage your card carefully it might be worth a quick begging call to try to get that removed. I have certainly heard of banks doing it for current accounts and it can't hurt, can it? (Making sure you look up the fee-free number on NoTo0870 so that the call doesn't cost more than the refund is worth!)

With my new streamlined haircut and unencumbered with the giant fleece I was able to knock a whopping 4 minutes off my PB for 5km. And was home by 5.40am. And yesterday managed to make inroads into the garden and chucked a whole pile of stuff from the shed - I have serious hoarding tendencies with regard to cardboard and so removed a massive glut of it which has given some more breathing space to my old foe.
