301k in debt and morbidly obese - things aren't great!

Hi MrB ~ Having spent the last few weeks making my way through the 116 pages of your diary, I thought I'd stop lurking and sign myself up to the forum properly!
I think you've done such a great job over the past 16 months, both on reducing your debt and weight (even if you don't always see it yourself). You're clearly a big inspiration to your diary followers and also myself.
I know you're reluctant to post a statement of affairs, but I think it would be great to get a rough idea of how much you end up saving this month by cutting down the alcohol and bad food. Perhaps chuck a fiver in a pot every time you would have had a bottle of wine and see how quickly it adds up?
Anyway, keep up the good work!

Mr B!
okay then, you snubbed the 10,000 rep challenge
how about a 36,500 rep challenge?Inspired by https://www.100repchallenge.com the challenge of doing 100 reps of exercise for 365 days!
Start today, Tuesday 1st Jan 2013 and every day and end on New Years Eve 2013.
The rules are simple...
Pick four exercises from the list of 8 and do 25 of each (or 25 seconds)
If you miss one day and double up the next day it's OK but miss more than two days and you're out!
Message the group to say you are entering, same format as before although hoping to get the Group name changed to 36,500 Rep Challenge...
BE HONEST! - THIS CHALLENGE REQUIRES INTEGRITY.
MISS MORE THAN TWO DAYS AND YOU ARE OUT!
Good luck!

Have been on a solid 2 hour listing session and got 45 items on ebay / not touched a drop of drink / have another 60 items possibly to list tonight if I don't run out of time.
Custardy - I haven't really had time to explore your kind offer. If I do 100 pushups now will that count for today's challenge? Sod that, managed 25 but have to get on with the listing stuff now. Deadlines, deadlines.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

there is leeway
you can skip today and double up tomorrow
you would be doing 25 reps/seconds of each exercise
so you have done 25 push ups
how about 25 seconds plank,25 seconds per side side plank and another exercise of your choice.
thats 1 minute 15 for the planks plus whatever else you choose
come on,its 3 minutes max0 -
Hi,
I've read the entire thread very insightful and amusing. It has also been the final little push to get me out running again, 3km in 22min (with quite a lot of walking :embarasse My training method is to select a distance and work up until I can run it all at a reasonable time then up the distance. Aiming for a 5mile race in June.
I wish I could get myself motivated enough top run in the mornings.0 -
Been on total autopilot today, ebaying up til the midnight deadline, up at 3.30 tidying the house, getting the PPI paperwork for the Ombudsman done, and then a major sort-out of a lot of drawers throughout the day has left the house looking very organised, and the next two months of eBay material is now not lurking in the shed of excuses, but is tucked away next to the kitchen table. That's a big barrier removed.
The run this morning was a real buzz and am looking forward to tomorrow's. Not surprised that I put 5kg on over the last month, will soon shake it off methinks.
And also got some work stuff ready for next week - want to hit the ground running at my new place, and shine.
All in all a very positive day, but I feel there's something missing. There is. It's called Wine.
Oh, and Custardy - sincere thanks for the invitation but having looked at the rep challenge, I can't handle the intensity of it - maybe this time next year, but at the moment I haven't got enough mental strength left to deal with having that banging away at the back of my brain every day.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

Sounds like you have been extra busy MrB. Reminds me, I have to photograph & list some Dyson DC16 parts on Ebid, so will do that this weekend.
Still haven't sent-off job application yet (another job for weekend), but have had an email from a rival agency regarding a 'Project Quality Management' role in my home town so will give them a call tomorrow.
Found out the best way to loose weight is to do 3 minutes of manic exercise each week. Your body starts to think you are an athlete & changes the way it burns the calories. It has been proven to work.Never Knowingly Understood.

Today's had some highs and lows
- Another 5k trundle this morning was good, meaning I have eclipsed the pitiful run totals of November and December, although by not going out at stupid o'clock I am missing all the characters and scenarios that were so much part of the experience. Will try for a 5.30 start tomorrow. A skinned heel won't help though - at the very least it's going to need a plaster and thick socks on tomorrow, and the very worst it means the trainers that are three years old are now kaput.
- The glut of found cash has now been spent thanks to IKEA but on the bright side - it is money that would have been spent anyway, just on the plastic. And we did get a couple of good decorating ideas - in a small house like ours you have to use your imagiination.
- Dry Day 3 has come and gone. We were round at some old friends earlier for dinner and they are very liquid people. Thankfully I'd already arranged with Mrs B that I would be the driver cos otherwise it would have been very tempting. Nerves are inevitably kicking in about the new job start on Monday, and coupled with the fact we will be doing the airport run on Saturday to return the mother-in-law it means there are going to be some emotional times in the household over the next few days. Fingers crossed the willpower is intact not to overspend, indulge, fall off the wagon or put my feet up.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

Self awareness is the key Mr B - you know what stresses you are under. Be strong :T.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

7.30am and already have been exposed to many potential meltdowns
#1 - Despite trundling at a fair old pace (considering the skinned heel and chafed legs), a paperboy ahead of me was actually increasing the gap (he wasn't running).
#2 - Blind ugly panic about my lack of preparation for Monday - I can't just rely on charm and reputation alone - I need to be fully genned up on the stuff I am supposed to deliver
#3 - Didn't so much hit 'the wall' with the running as have it towering over me threatening to bury me in the rubble - maybe 4 consecutive days was too much
#4 - Getting home fromthe 5k run (which I did manage to complete despite #3) to find I had actually gained weight
#5 - Awful realization that there is a very real chance I will not be able to fit into my suit trousers for Monday. Suit at dry cleaners til Saturday afternoon so limited scope for getting replacements as the fat man shop isn't open Sundays.
#6 - Guilt that I have had to take such a pay cut - the impact it will have on my family and general feelings of abject failure over my role as a father.
It has not, to be perfectly honest, been the best start to a day I've ever had. And the thing keeping me from melting down - thinking that I could come on here and spill it all out, and in a way - whilst it makes it more real by writing it down, it also makes it less personal as it is now out there in the ether rather than just corroding my mind.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)
