  • Well today the weather held off long enough for me to fix the fence that came down last week - must be getting close to double figures the amount of time I have fixed it in the last four years - thankfully the next door neighbour it impacts upon is a very laidback guy (ie, he doesn't give a damn about his garden) and so the only stress to getting it fixed comes from me. Have used all my engineering skills and use of oppositional forces to hopefully make it last more than 24 hours. Realistically I could do with getting all the fences done but that would take up at least 2 grand I don't have.

Discovered some mould patches in the corner of the extension, and some serious liquid - either caused by a) drinks being spilt down the back of the sofa, b) the boy jumping down behind the sofa and peeing in the corner, c) or some exterior cracks being exposed to the weather more than usual due to the fence being down. Am obviously hoping it's a), otherwise damp-proofing or psychologists will have to get involved and that's going to cost money.

What with having to also reassemble the lounge after an impromptu "grannys-gone-for-a-nap-so-let's-have-a-disco" disco from the kids, it has meant that Gin O'Clock has arrived at 10 to 4, and so the likelihood of me getting into the shed to photograph the stuff ready for ebay listing today is quite frankly, remote.

Keeping this up, even if it is writing the same old blah, does wonders for my sense of venting and clarifying my thoughts and has quite likely saved me from a nervous breakdown at least once already.

Just popping out of lurkdom to say that this statement is the bravest bit of writing I have come across for a while, big Northern hug coming your way Mr B, no way of dodging it I'm afraid, it's HUGE! :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

  • Think I've already wished everyone a happy 2013. So let me extend my hopes for a safe and prosperous 2014 to the viewers of this thread. Whilst I was planning on having a dry New Year's Eve - the remaining gin in the fridge basically asked to be used up so that I can start 2013 with a clean slate. Am doing a 5k tomorrow even if it kills me. If I don't update this thread tomorrow then you'll know it has. Night all!

Back from a 5k run in the sun. Am very glad that t-shirt weather is back. Couldn't have started the year off any better. Will try and update totals later and get back to that darn shed.

    Well done Mr B :j.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
