Mr B, a thought for the weekend: have you looked at what you drink as well as what you eat? I'm sure somebody mentioned having a glass of water if you think you're hungry as it's difficult sometimes to determine whether you're hungry or thirsty. Also, any issues of "fluid retention" - some people believe in it, some people think it's [STRIKE]boll[/STRIKE] nonsense - are dealt with:D

    ETA Congratulations on the exercise!

When it was free listing weekend i found it nigh on impossible to upload a picture due to high traffic. I listed them all without pictures and then went back monday/tuesday and uploaded the piccies successfully by editing my listing.

Toughest time on this mission so far - went on the Wii Fit late last night which shattered me, then this morning crawled out of my slumber to shuffle along for my regular 3k which went slower than usual and I was plagued with selfdoubt and loathing throughout (Hard-Fi's "Good for Nothing" coming on during the run really didn't help much). Came home to find that the net result of yesterday's splurge was a 2lb gain so back up to 23-3. Could have been a lot worse.

..."self doubt and loathing"....am not having that MR B, for you are already a legend in these parts .. stick with it, you're doing really well :j

Have 2 solid reasons for not going out for a run this morning: kids are up but Mrs B is in bed suffering from the (deservedly half price) rose wine we'd had sitting in the fridge for weeks. Plus it is tipping down.

But the real reason is that I am petrified the vasectomy stitches are gonna split open and my god I've probably just ruined someone else's breakfast.

Have to make the most of the remaining holiday time we have and that doens't involve any more time in hospital.

Am down to 23stone 4 already so it's all moving in the right direction.
Wish you all the very best with weight loss & tackling debt. Not meaning to lecture you but have you checked with your GP to see if it's OK to go running if you're so overweight? I'm at least 3 stone overweight and always have to check out any exercise regime with my GP because of high blood pressure. Unfortunately my running days are long over but do use my Wii. Good luck & keep up the good work.
  • My oh my isn't this a popular thread!

Well done on your results so far. Same as everybody else i will subscribe and continue to read with interest.

Just a little wondering...please don't shoot me down guys! You have mentioned a couple or three little purchases that don't seem entirely necessary. Picture frame for example...just thinking that you might find that missing £800 or so disappears on these sort of purchases.

Strongly recommend a spending diary, using cash only and setting a target for no spend days in order to help avoid those unnecessary purchases.

Hey i'm CERTAINLY no saint, I can convince myself wholeheartedly that I NEED *(insert item)* and MUST go and buy, but most of the time I actually don't. I am still trying to get those spending urges under control, but when I do I am convinced that will be the end of our money woes.

Another thing to remember when weighing up between exercise and moneysaving is the massive endorphin boost you will get from the exercise, which will give you the extra energy you need to focus on saving/raising money.

Look forward to reading about your progress.;)

  • Hi MrB
I've lurked around these parts for many months but never posted. Just worked out how much I owe, and thought it's probably a good idea to start using this forum for advice and support. I'm drawn to your diary (a) Because it's the 1st one I came to in the debt-free forum, and (b) 301K owed is exactly the amount that I'm up to my eyes in as well (including mortgage repayments).
All the best with tackle your debt and recovering from your 'operation' - oh yes, another thing in common with you !
I'll be keeping a eye on your diary to see how you get on.

  • Thanks for the inspirational diary - this is the first time I've subscribed to any thing on the forums. Good luck with the running - I started three years ago at the age of 50 and signed up for the Sport Relief Mile which gave me something to aim for. I've had to take time off running through ill health but I'm doing lots of walking now instead and you've inspired me to go further than usual today. Keep up the good work.

  • Hi, just wanted to say that I've enjoyed your diary so far and wish you all the best with your debt-free & weightloss goals. You're an inspiration!
  • Once again I've very thankful and humbled by the positivity shown by you guys on here, this morning was tough, I know I'm setting myself up for a fall with the constant weighing-in but it gives me some degree of control and consistency.

Moneysaving today saw us take our longplanned and oftpostponed trip to a very pretty castle in the heart of Kent but armed with a picnic rather than what would have usually been a real drain on the pocket at the various kiosks. Really pleasant day and plenty of exercise too. Would have been even better if we'd remembered to put the suncream on Mrs B and the kids first thing rather than halfway through the day - but they haven't complained too much.

And I know that daytrips to castles and suchlike are not part of the moneysaving mantra but then I'm trying not to be a fundamentalist about this (which I could quite easily become).

Really felt like a Sunday today so tomorrow is going to be a bonus day - will go for a nice free walk somewhere provided they've all recovered from the sunstroke.

Hey moneysaving shouldn't be about depravation if you can avoid it it's for me spending your money wisely. I think a family day out at a castle would fall into that category. If you don't budget where you can for some entertainment you'll find the troops rebelling before long ;)
