Once again I've very thankful and humbled by the positivity shown by you guys on here, this morning was tough, I know I'm setting myself up for a fall with the constant weighing-in but it gives me some degree of control and consistency.
Moneysaving today saw us take our longplanned and oftpostponed trip to a very pretty castle in the heart of Kent but armed with a picnic rather than what would have usually been a real drain on the pocket at the various kiosks. Really pleasant day and plenty of exercise too. Would have been even better if we'd remembered to put the suncream on Mrs B and the kids first thing rather than halfway through the day - but they haven't complained too much.
And I know that daytrips to castles and suchlike are not part of the moneysaving mantra but then I'm trying not to be a fundamentalist about this (which I could quite easily become).
Really felt like a Sunday today so tomorrow is going to be a bonus day - will go for a nice free walk somewhere provided they've all recovered from the sunstroke.
They are moneysaving- join the National Trust through Quidco, get cashback, reduced membership and a free gift..and it equates to lots of lovely free days out, lots of beaches, parking, castles etc..it is moneysaving and you are helping a good cause at the same time:D:money:

Lucielle makes a good point, MrB - it doesn't go on overnight!
Just a tip about *when* to do exercise - and its a goody, honest! Do exercise, and *then* eat - the raised metabolic rate you get from exercise lasts for about 90 minutes I think - so food is metabolised more efficiently, and less goes to fat. If you eat and then exercise, you're not getting all the benefit you could from all your effort.
I do really admire what you're doing tho - so energised!!!
its also more beneficial to exercise first thing in the morning as it will keep your metabolism high during the day,
and while is great that your exercising, you also need rest days to give your body/muscles time to recuperate, also dont do the same exercises all the time you must vary to work all the muscles groupsIf we can put a man on the moon...how come we cant put them all there?

Totally agree, webitha, I was almost going to edit my post - glad you got the info on here
Mr B, I second (third!) what Bitsy and Bob have said - days out can definitely be mse - just buy the tickets in the right way, its not about deprivation, especially not when you need to be in it for the long haul.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Took some advice and re-engineered the playlist on my mp3 player so that today's 3k run was less psychologically damaging. It almost worked but at least with the old stuff - Chicago, Foreigner, Journey - you knew where you were going - there wasn't going to be any major changes in the song from the first bar. Whilst I love the current media darlings Nero and their chart-topping variant of dubstep, listening to 'Promises' on earphones whilst running the streets of South London at 5am heightens the already quite substantial paranoia especially when sound effects whoosh from ear to ear that had me turning round convinced a misfiring Subaru Impreza was about to mow me down.
Back to 23-1 and with enough endorphins buzzing around to make this last day of summer a low-spend day. Will be starting a spending diary from tomorrow also but think I nailed down the missing £800 from last month - it was spent on food, nappies, diesel and trying to keep the mother-in-law entertained. Have shifted half a stone since she went back home after her three-week stay. Amazing what all that jumping for joy can do.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

LOL! :rotfl:
Well personally I like Dubstep but yeah, I wouldn't necessarily pick it to run to!!
Have you tried the Rocky theme (Gonna Fly Now) and also 'Eye of the Tiger'? VERY motivational to run to, when they pop up on my shuffle I have to just keep going! Also sounds like the kind of music you might like.0 -

Try not to weigh yourself everyday - although I know that it feels like you have to! Far better to do weekly or twice - weekly and see a larger inprovement.
However I'm just off to weigh myself having started a diet on 01 Sept and have weighed myself everyday so far so don't practice what I preach. 0.3kg so far and believe me that makes me very happy.
LOVING your diary - very inspirational - good luck

well done on figuring it out where the money went. And nice one on losing half a stone since the MIL went home! Keep going, you are getting there, it takes a while to change your way of doing thing

Well done of figuring out broadly where the 'missing' money has been going. Great idea to start a spending to diary to hone it down even more. :T
I love reading your diary, it brightens up my day. Maybe you should patent that new exercise regime of "jumping for joy" following the MIL leaving - I'm sure others do exactly the same!! :rotfl:Debt Free Roll of Honor #598

I read in men's health magazine than one of the best running songs is Queens of the Stone Age No One Knows as I believe it's 120bpm which is supposedly an ideal rhythm for running.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife
