I second Bitsy and Bob re the days out. As long as you are mindful of how you plan the days you can have some great days out. I notice that you are in South London so can you do trips to museums etc (free) and take along a picnic for afterwards. Hyde Park isnt far from the Science Museum. NT would be a great one to join for that area as there are lots of good places to see. I have learned the hard way that the going without just makes you crash and burn in the end. Little treats each month is the way to go. If you have Orange mobile you can get 2 for 1 at the cinemas on Wednesday or download an itunes film on a Thursday for 35p.

Have you heard of the exercise video Shred? If not then you are missing out big time. Lots of people on MSE were shredding last year after HYPNO started the craze. I believe that you can buy it fairly cheaply and that it is done by the woman who does Americas Biggest Loser. It is only 20 minutes and supposed to be a good workout. Do check with your Dr first though.

That would be the polite way of terming it :rotfl: It's a killer and that's only level 1

Try not to weigh yourself everyday - although I know that it feels like you have to! Far better to do weekly or twice - weekly and see a larger inprovement. However I'm just off to weigh myself having started a diet on 01 Sept and have weighed myself everyday so far so don't practice what I preach. 0.3kg so far and believe me that makes me very happy.

Then again, daily weighing for the first couple of weeks - or a month if you're female;) - probably helps 'cos you can see the temporary gains and losses and see them as exactly that - temporary!

Love this diary - just stumbled across it and read every post.

Lookng forward to the next installment.
Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?
  • Today turned out to be very far from the quite literal walk in the park that was intended. The other day I'd successfully reorganised the tardis-like shed with all the important stuff at the front and everything else well packed away at the back. However, after finding and subsequently showing to Mrs B the wonderful thing that is myfitnesspal.com it was discovered that the elliptical trainer (one of the items firmly at the back) would allow Mrs B to burn off 3 times the calories her current regime does.

And so began the big game of Shed Tetris. Every thing had to come out, in order, neatly splayed on the lawn so that I could get the item at the bottom row out, and then put everything back in. Fantastic exercise.
This was then followed by Dance with the Furniture, where I spent ages moving around the family room to accomodate elliptical trainer only for Mrs B to vote against it. This was made even more fun by the fact I had to disconnect PC, TV, Satellite and then reassemble them with the benefit of extension cables (which had just been repacked in the shed). This was also fantastic exercise.
Three hours later a suitable solution was found whereby everything was back where it started aside from the elliptical trainer which now sits in shame next to the kitchen table. However, both Mrs B and the girl have been on it this afternoon is good.
Aside from all the exercise which did sweat me down to 23-0 (I shouldn't have checked I know but it felt damn good), I also stumbled across another chunk of CDs I can get shot of.
  • I read in men's health magazine than one of the best running songs is Queens of the Stone Age No One Knows as I believe it's 120bpm which is supposedly an ideal rhythm for running.

Brilliant song sung with attack and would get Mr B fired up a treat I reckon!!

Well done Mr B by the way for excellent witty diary and for facing your dual mountains head on.

Keep up the good work :D

No need to be so literal! :rotfl:

Well done on the shed and 23-0 Mr B.

  • Sorry had to curtail previous post as Mrs B was approaching. To those recommending QOTSA - you're preaching to the converted, I've been a big fan of Josh Homme and his crew for a long while and it's been on the playlist for time. I've also managed to lose half a chin putting the count down to 2.5. This is also nice.

Hope everyone has a fantastic evening, I am faced with the choice of either of helping Mrs B drown her sorrows about our return to work tomorrow, or to sit there quietly judging whilst Mrs B drowns her sorrows, or.. ignore Mrs B drowning her sorrows.

oops :rotfl: I could have perhaps worded that better but no pun or offence was meant.

Mr B??? Can I ask why your diary is a secret to Mrs B and the family?
