Did my best to keep a lid on things at work today, the same boss who let me have the rest of the day off yesterday now requires me to do a late one (well, til 7) on the night this week of DD's birthday when we had planned to go out for a meal. Bloater of old would have kicked off and found a way out of it by fair means or foul whereas Anodyne Bloater just made a couple of valid points and then let it go - DD is having a glut of things on her birthday weekend so it's not the end of the world, and I have to be thankful that I still have a job that gives me most of what I want (time with family) most of the time. For a lot of people getting home at 7 or later is the default, I need to be thankful it's still the exception (at the moment) for me. It's that great part of the month where the payments go out but the interest isn't put back on so the total debt figures chunks down considerably.
Chest pain is lesser today but still bites, some more Tylenol should get me through the night. And there's a chance that there could be gentle footsteps upon the streets of SE London tomorrow morning - am really missing the buzz of it, even a 2k trundle would be a helluva lot better than nothing.
But get this for MSE conversion, not only have I dug out some unused HP ink cartridges for a printer we threw out ages ago, and seen that they are still getting prices on eBay (so a-listed they will be), but I have plans to fire up the soldering iron, replace a capicator I can get for 44p from Maplins and re-animate an old HD satellite reciever sitting in the shed of plenty - once fixed I should be able to get 35quid or so for it on eBay. Now if anyone had told me I would be thinking along these lines back in mid-August, I would have fallen over laughing.

Glad you're feeling better MrB. Sometimes it's better to choose your battles with work stuff. I am heartily impressed with your MSE conversion :j

I was horrified I wouldn't get a morning update from you, but I see yesterday evening's update on your mse conversion was worth it :D:D:D

Know what you mean about being lucky about the hours of work - I work from home, and I can pretty much do what I want when I want, apart from actually needing to earn money :D - thats why I'm on here at all sorts of odd times of day.

Happy Birthday to little DD this week, and I hope work goes well.

  • Good morning Mr B , hope all is well in your world :) Your MSE-ness is most impressive, how nice to see that scary big number beginning to plummet. Hope you manage to enjoy some jelly and ice-cream at some point to celebrate DD's happy day!

    Morning MrB,

It has taken me just over a week to get through your diary so far. A week of tonsilitis & chest infections in this house, two small kids including a 2 year old's birthday.

Your diary has certainly helped make me chuckle! :D

As a fellow South Londoner, I love hearing about the dodgy encounters you have early mornings ;) You also inspired me to actually fire up the Wii Fit which I bought a year ago and left in the box :o I also went to the gym last night. I'd love to be able to run but don't seem to be able to get the hang of breathing right. :rotfl:

Keep going, I'm going to keep reading :)

  • Disappointed I didn't get to do any running today but as regulars can tell from the lateness of my post - things are pretty busy here at the moment, there's always tomorrow to focus on for a 2k trundle, am really itching to go. Am still playing the politics game pretty well at work - and it's led to a definite easing of the pressure on me and my team. As a very wise man told me the other week - "let the wisest among you be your servant" - so we've been getting all these big players to give us their advice and support and it's saving us a lot of time and effort plus it's getting things done the way they want them to. As long as you can put the ego aside (not easy for a Leo) then it makes work a lot easier.
Am also becoming addicted to eBay, or rather, what I can sell on it, am putting copious items I own on watch lists and getting well excited at the amounts of dosh they are being sold for, am now determined to clear £300 profit on eBay each month cos I think it's well doable for at least 6 months. Book sales appear to have dried up but then I am not exactly pushing them, once people have read them and hopefully commented on them then maybe more will be drawn. If you could all give a collective shout at 4am for Bloater to get off his backside and out into the streets it would be much much appreciated.

At least this mental week is nearly over - have to find a way to put NSDs and AFDs on the signature as well. Was praying there'd be a cold bottle of wine in the fridge but sadly no. Am almost tempted to have a crack at the Bitter - it surely can't be that awful can it? (pours can of it into a pint glass). Well, actually it isn't that bad - at least it makes it a non-AFD and its wonderfully cold due to having been in the fridge for about 3 months, I do however feel the urge to wear a cardigan and grow some form of beard.
Running will officially start again on Sunday - no point teasing myself any other time - I have to remember I was only up the hospital on Monday and whilst the pains are easing towards nothingness, rushing back into it ain't gonna help me.
Work is remarkably mellow, and woo-hoo sold another e-book

Bitter and contemplating of veg growing - Id say a cardigan & beard is just a starter for 10... am thinking pipe, "sensible" slippers and a home hair cutting kit (now that would be very MSE!)
