Hi MR. B., delurking here to send a bit of exercise encouragement your way.
I am too one of those crazy people that get up early for a run (although not at 4 am. !!! )
I also go through phases in which I can't stop running or I can't get out of bed. However, I have learnt that less is more. I only run every other day and allow myself to be "lazy" and not do it once a week. I also make it fit round my schedule and change it as the week progresses.
I do incorporate other exercises like abs round my running. They don't take long and help to see results much quicker.

I don't want to be rude, but given your weight you should be kinder to your body and try to change some habits little by little. I think you've done wonderfully so far, but you might have put too much pressure on yourself. A more varied exercise regime could help with motivation provide better results. Does your wife like dancing? Some dancing clubs only ask for a small entrance fee and you can spend the evening exercising and having fun with your wife.
Also, is there a swimming pool near you? They might have family passes and it could be a great way to have fun with the entire family. Swimming is one of the most complete exercises there is.

  • Today's early morning fun comprised a trip to A&E as the crippling chest pains which have been plauging me for a while (and which I couldn't comment on, on here cos Mrs B reads it and I don't like her getting worried) were worse than ever upon my waking. Having been x-rayed, ECG'd and bloodtested the good news is that it's nothing irreversible, broken or lung/heart-related. Bad news is that despite knowing its purely muscular it still hurts like hell! Got home to check my work email to find my boss has suggested I take the rest of the day off. And so I will.

So what have they done/suggested/prescribed for this?

This sort of pain dispirits and debilitates, militates against the sort of upward journey you're on. I DO know.
Allez, Mr B - you need to [STRIKE]ask for[/STRIKE] insist on help from Prof.s who know.
Please don't carry this. I am now paying for thinking I'd just work sth off/through, not wanting to bother Dr about it..

Glad you're okay - these things are scarey!

Mrs B - what can I say? Hope you're all right?

Mr B again... keep up the good work, cut down on the cardboard dinosaurs, they are obviously giving you stress injuries. :)

Can't seem to switch off. Instead of taking a golden and totally rare oppurtunity to nap in the daytime I have instead - taken photos for the next batch of records to be listed, done some work on book 3 for Kindle and attempted (til my arms gave out) to cut my quality cardboard up into LP sized chunks. Seeing as its the stuff BMW use to package Mini windscreens in, it is (as I said before) the mahoghany of cardboard - the ultimate pinnacle of cardness, but that means that my blunt Ikea scissors are having big problems with it. Have resisted the painkillers til now but am going to have to dope myself up.

Okay, doping up sounds good. Napping sounds even better.

Do you have a Stanley knife for the mahogany cardboard?

Would a Stanley knife do the trick? (Might depend on how doped you are?)
