Wow, erm, this is a bit embarrasing, thanks though to those who've parted with money for the first e-book - has sold 14 in its first day which is rather excellent. Am very aware that this forum is not an advertising site for my books but can I just say to those who are looking at the printed copies available on amazon to SAVE THEIR MONEY and not spend anything on them. Firstly, some of them are going for silly money, secondly, as I have the digital rights to them then they will all be coming out in e-book format soon enough and all will be posited at the lowest possible price point. Once the deck is cleared I can get to work on the new stuff which will be much more in the vein of the stuff I do on here - I'm a much lighterhearted and smiley person than I was back when the old stuff was written.
On moneysaving news I have managed to acquire my dad's christmas present for free, he, somewhat ambitiously asked me to get him a laptop, and I, also somewhat ambitiously asked one of my mates if she knew anyone with a 'broken' one, and it turns out she has one so riddled with hardcore !!!!!! (thanks to an errant virus) that she doesn't use it anymore as she got a new one. Not sure whether to fix it or just give it to my dad as it is. Have been getting some really positive feedback from ebay and am now planning how to do weekly auctions of 20 items a time just to keep the money ticking in and the momentum going. Am not going to say anything about a Sunday morning run other than I hope I do it.
  • :TAll sounds really positive Mr B, good for you:T

Have come to the conclusion that (even with today's 25) I don't have enough hours in the day to work on the extra money earning (ebay and kindle) and be vigilant about my health (running and careful eating and constant monitoring of my weight) to the extremes I like. Something has to give and at the moment it's constantly the running. But I gotta keep looking at the positives, since starting this diary I have
    - managed to shave a considerable amount off insurance, sky, etc
    - checked on the right tarriffs for utilities
    - stopped the overall debt from rising
    - become a voucher vulture
    - got into the concept of NSDs
    - lost over a stone
    - done a lot of running
    - got over the mental block of starting eBay selling
    - made £350 from 36 records
    - got over the mental block of doing writing again
    - started reissuing old material on Kindle
    - learnt a lot of advice from some very wise people on here
    - started considering doing a veg plot.

Oh, and maybe made a few people laugh along the way.

Agree with you Mr B - sometimes you are happy to live in a flurry of activity, sometimes you need to consolidate and focus on the top things in your life to make it more manageable. I focus on my health and my new business every workday and then add one project to focus on every day.

    Sunday - spiritual
    Monday - Career
    Tuesday - Personal Development
    Wednesday - Health
    Thursday - Relationships
    Friday - Finances
    Sat - Family

If I can get to the end of the week with one thing ticked off in each category I have had a win.

Sometimes I have "challenges" inspired by the Matrixettes and I will go off on a tangent for a week or so to accomplish a project - like the upholstering 2 sofas for less than a tenner, or creating my toddlers next three years wardrobes for £20. But I usually drift back to the same old format.

You're right, MrB - even though you might put weight back on, you know you can take it off again when you get back into the running. Better that you can do what feels right for yourself, we don't have endless amounts of time, ever. If debt-busting is where your energy is right now, then go for it. Now I think about it, a lot of people on here I know have done it that way round - tried to do it all, and given up, focussing on one at a time - for people who are regulars on here, I'm thinking of Hypno and Taxi ...

The only thing I'd take issue with is that you say you "stopped your overall debt from rising" - you did some stats a week or so ago, didn't you take the debt well under £300k?

And tell me that you're paying off the debt snowballing-wise ...
