According to HDUK the £7.50 deal is back on again.

However, i got this deal(600 mins,unltd txts + web'n'walk plus (18)) last year when it was a £10 (incl of £5 discount).

I tried about 6 weeks ago to get this because i was eligible for upgrade and they offered me to either

1) keep it the same but go to £15

2) or drop the internet and keep it at £10

Now 6 WEEKS LATER i have eventually managed to get someone in CS that has agreed to give me the same deal for the £10. I tried to get it for £7.50 because we added a second line on about 2 months ago and tried to use thhat as leverage but they weren't budging on giving me both for £7.50-that'll do me as life's too short too deal with this lot any longer-

In summary i now have 2 sims with-

1) £10 for 600 mins, 500 txts (with umlimited booster) and web'n walk plus 18 (this is the second booster). 3gb download cap.

2) £7.50 for 600mins, 500 txts and web'n'walk (this is the only booster) on thiis one. 1gb download.

I would probably have left them and if i didn't live in such a blackspot for coverage i would have but they're about the best.

pros-

1) is it undoubedly a good deal but make sure you get what they are telling you. I would recommend a text as i haven't been refused that yet

2) i've just tried tethering to my laptop on deal 1 above using web'n'walk plus and can confirm it worked

3) they allegedly don't charge for going over download limit but can't verify this as wife only really used facebook for last year and i don't have a smartphone yet  (note to self)

That's all the pros.

The cons-

1) if you were on £7.50 you'll be bloody lucky to get CS to agree to carry it on in my experience. I would get it in text.

2) CS don't have a clue on the whole-i could list dozens of points here but that's enough. If you carry on with them be prepared for a world of hurt if you try to get a CS agent that actually knows what they're talking about. I would give them about 1 out of 20 (about the same odds of getting a clued up agent)

I could go on about CS but that's enough.

Tried it using the wifes HTC Wildfire (the old one not the new one). I just googled it and messed about a bit and got it going.

Also with regards to the much debated FUP and speeds on here is what CS told me tonight-

1) web'n'walk plus is 3GB download limit. speed should only be compromised if you reach d/load limit and it will slow.

2) web'n'walk is 1GB download limit. same again for speeds.

I tried a speedtest earlier on sim 1) above tonight and i got 1800/1900 kbps-that's about 2meg isn't it. Quite happy with that as it's faster than my isp and when i tried about a month ago after reading this we were getting about 0.3meg like a lot of people on here.

With regards to deal 2) above i haven't tried the speed yet as i haven't got a smartphone yet and can't be bothered swapping sims.

LIKE I SAID-IF THEY TELL YOU WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR GET IT IN TEXT WITH THIS LOT

Just spoke to CS about think of leaving due to the 'consistent' low (0.3) speed I was having on my handset. He insisted several times that TM don't cap speeds and would I be interested a cheaper £7.50 deal (currently paying £10). I said there's no point and he immediately offered to speak to his technical team to see if there was any issues. Came back and said that the technical team would up my d/l speed to 2mbps (I think he meant 1.8) immediately. He asked I should notice the difference straight away and to see how it goes and think about calling them back regarding the £7.50 deal.

Restarted my handset, ran the speedtest, speed jumped up to 1.8, happy days!

I'm getting (and always have got) about 1.8Mb Speed using my T-Mobile Sim in an iPhone 3GS and when I Tether it to my iPad or Laptop get almost the same speed (1.5Mb to 1.8Mb).

However I've just got a Data Sim from 3 (Three), and cut it down to fit into my iPad; now if my understanding is correct the T-Mobile and 3 share a 3G Network (soon to be with Orange also) then I would expect to get about the same speed (1.8Mb) using the 3 Network Sim, since I'm sat in the same chair in my house doing the same Speedtest (using Speedtest.net), only difference is one is on an iPhone and the other on an iPad.

So T-Mobile the speed is 1.8Mb and the speed I get using the 3 Sim is....

3.5Mb........double the speed....

T-Mobile may not charge you for going over there FUP, but they do restrict the speed.
• I renewed on 07/10 and specified that I needed to keep the 1.8mbps and 3gb. He assured me I would. I ran speed tests every day at 1.8mbps until today when it dropped to 0.3mbps.

I rang up and spoke to a Filipino who put me through to the technical team. I explained everything to him and he checked what my old contract was and agreed to up my speed. He checked that my original contract started before February (when they dropped the FUP to 500mb for new customers) and told me that my 3gb cap was already at 3gb as a result (either way it should be at 3gb now). Restarted my phone and back to 1.8mbps.
• Hmmmm, well I just managed to renew SUSPICIOUSLY easily without any hesitation from the upgrade rep.

The guy confirmed to me numerous times that my speed would stay the same, 1.8 Mbps, although he did say that I "wouldn't be charged for going over anyway" so clearly we were talking about different things.... but apparently I have 600 mins, 500 texts, unlimited internet and a booster (texts for me) at £7.66 a month for another 12 months.

Now I am happy with that, but it will remain to be seen whether this all falls into place when the contract arrives and the next billing cycle comes round. Just restarting my phone now as I type this to see if anythings changed.......tested with speedtest.net and still at 1.8 Mbps - the real proof of the pudding will come on the 16th when the plan resets for the month. I'll believe it when I see it!

Hmm again, just checked the "my t-mobile" online and the account details have changed - no mention of the internet now, just the capped data rate as usual, and my discount reads " £2.55 Discount " whatever that's supposed to mean. However, on phoning 150 and speaking to our Dutch customer service friend she confirmed back to me exactly what I wanted to hear, and again I stressed the importance of the 1.8Mpbs speed, I was told everything was exactly the same - now I don't usually go anywhere near over 500MB a month anyway so I didn't push the old 3GB limit - however that may change when SKY GO is eventually launched.

I gotta bad feeling :D - I don't trust em, and they have given me plenty good reason not to over the couple of years myself and my wife have been with them. Not looking forward to billing day, even though I have it confirmed TWICE now by different reps that my package is what it should be.

PS - I tried emailing them, twice, and got the same standard nonsense reply back each time:

" Thanks for your email letting me know that you want o renew your contract. Let me look into this for you.
I've checked your account and it showed that you are now eligible for an upgrade. I understand that you want to have the same plan and get the services that you currently have. I can definitely connect you over to our upgrades team to discuss the offers.

However, please be advised that I can't guarantee that you will get the same deal and services. It will depend on what will be the offer to you by our upgrades team. You may get a new phone but without any discounts, or get a discount without a new phone

Thanks again for your email. I understand I wasn't able to help you but I hope you find the above information useful. If we can offer you any further/more help, please feel free to"

Well, I hope they recorded my call because I may be wanting them to refer back to it! I think I am going to email them again to try and get some clarification in writing.

• Well, much to my complete surprise they didn't outright lie to me this time! I have it in writing!

"I've personally checked your account and found that your new plan is for £15.32 per month with a £7.5 discount, which you'd agreed before.

Your new SIM only plan consists of the following:

• free 600 minutes allowance
• unlimited internet booster at "web 'n' walk" speeds of 1.8Mbps

• loyalty discount £7.5.
I'm sure your previous plan had all these included and am sure you'll be happy to have this information. "

Excellent.
